Default Upset, who was right here??? RE: BIGI razors this week!

I went in with my 2 $3 off Bic disposable razor coupons and grabbed two packages. The tag price is $5.49. My cashier would not use the two coupons because they would then be higher than the value of the items! I was SO upset, but didn't want to sit and argue with the woman. I have, numerous times, done this very thing and never had an issue.

Do I have a leg to stand on here? Did this happen to anyone else?

(BTW- I am new here! I have been reading for a while and just signed up today! You have all been a huge help!)

    Welcome Megan!

I'm sorry you had a problem with your cashier today. I also had this happen to me today with a new cashier. She herself said she was new and had to check. I already knew the answer but I told her she should have a manager to come over to get it ok'd. (Even the bag guy knew it was ok to use both, but I wanted her to feel comfortable with taking the coupons on both items). When the manager came over she said it was ok to take coupons on both items but she couldn't give any cash back and that was OK. I had other items to handle any overage that the razors created. I'm not sure if you had anything else in your order to handle that.

If you run into this problem again, I suggest that you ask her to call a Customer Service person or manager to resolve the problem. Not only does it get the problem solved with less stress, the cashier will learn from the experience as well.

Whereas taking two coupons on a BOGO at Publix seems to be the norm, not every cashier seems to be aware of that.

I am looking forward to a written coupon policy coming from Publix soon that will make the shopping experience a little easier when having these issues.

    Hope this helps.
A great day begins with a great attitude!

Did you have other things in your order to absorb that overage - or were you expecting cash back?

Happened to me too, they allowed me to use both coupons but adjusted every single coupon down, even if it was by the penny to not give any overage on Sunday. It was a supervisor and cashier that I've gone to many, many times. I had plenty of things to absorb any overage. It was really odd but only amounted to 65c so I didn't even feel like arguing (was exhausted already). It did take sooooooo much longer to check out though. They scrolled through the receipt for every single coupon and then manually typed in each one. No idea why they did this, I've never had a problem before and typically they're excited to see me. They've even made comments about just overriding the coupons exceeding items without even checking because they know me so well. Oh well!

I had several other things! And, I even asked if she could just adjust the coupon down and not do overage and the customer service manager told me no! Uggh, I am angry now!

Well, as of right now, the official policy is to allow 2 coupons on a BOGO sale. I have personally checked with a person "in charge of the coupons & redemption" at HQ in Lakeland and he has stated overage is permitted. Of course, I could not get him to issue that in any form of writing.

He did tell my SM though, so I get the overage (no cash back though). However, I don't think they tell everyone that on purpose.

However, with this new coupon policy that is coming out soon, it may be addressed.

I would suggest trying a different store and/or a different cashier at your store. Also, get a RC - most stores are out.

Yes, 2 coupons are ok... BUT it is at the discretion of the store manager as to whether or not they allow overage and that is where your problem came in... it's a little easier if they are not inspecting every single one and always easier when you don't have a cashier who is jealous of your savings :)
