QUESTION Attn: Publix SE Alabama,Northern Florida, SW Georgia Shoppers

Hi, I'm hoping that someone can help me. In a couple of weeks, I will be visiting my mother, who lives in Dothan, AL. She has a Publix store there, but they do not double and triple coupons. I am not very familiar with Publix, but I've heard that some of their stores do double and triple??? Can you please tell me if there are any stores near Dothan or the surrounding areas that do this? My mom doesn't coupon and I want to help her get started. I live in Texas, so any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

All Publix in FL and most on the coast do a true Buy One, Get One Free (versus half price BOGOs for everyone else). FL also does not double 50¢ and under coupons, but TN, most of AL (except coastal), parts of GA, SC all do double 50¢ and under coupons, provided they start with a 5 (9s do not double automatically). Maybe there is more than one store/area that you can buy in and get a little of both. True BOGO if that appeals to you and then double coupons and half priced BOGOs if that appeals to you too.

Note I'm in North Alabama and haven't shopped in FL or the coastal regions, but have read from posters here about FL.

I am from Dothan and shop at both of the Publix locations, neither of them double or triple but they do allow you to stack one manufacturer's coupon with one store coupon per item. They generally give you no problems no matter how many you want to use. There is also winn-dixie who does the same but they seem to try to limit you a lot more but if you push the policy they will allow it, I did last night and someone gave me the well you're getting one B1G1F so really one is already free and tried to only let me use 1 per every two. I eventually got the manager and worked it out. There is also walmart if she shops there. To be honest if she can get MQ's for things she really likes Walmart usually has better deals unless she can get some good Q's for teh Publix B1G1 deals.

Adding to say that the Dothan Publix rings up half off on the BOGO's.

Yep =) that works out pretty well on certain items like the pasta and low price items if you have a $1/1 coupon, or some other type of great deal. Oh and they do accept competitors Q's from just about any store around Dothan, whether it be Target, Winn Dixie, etc.

Thank you for the information. Just exactly how does that work? Can you give me an example?

Thank you....that's some really good information! I assume the Walmarts in Dothan will allow overage on a coupon? Say, for example, you are buying a bottle of lotion priced at $2.50 and you have a $3.00 coupon. The Walmarts here in TX will apply the extra 50 cents towards the other items in your basket. I don't know if they do this nationwide or just here in Texas??

Thank you! I knew I had heard of some Publix that offered doubles,...now I know where! Would you happen to know where the closest store to Dothan would be that does this?? We are willing to drive a bit if need be.

Yes! I've done it recently and in all honesty some of the Walmart employees are alot easier to deal with when handling the coupons. If one isn't scanning usually they can just key in the amount or if its a like coupon they'll just key in a repeat from the last one. On the B1G1 deals at Publix say Mueller's pasta is $1.67 B1G1 then you will actually pay .83 each box and if you used two $1/1 Mueller's MQ's then you would have overage of .33 cents. So if you can find good deals like that it's really great but without doubling of value on coupons its a little harder to get the big deals but you can still do considerably good if you have some decent MQ's and stack them with a Publix coupon.

Glad to hear that about Walmart. Also, thank you for explaining the half off on the BOGO at Publix. Our stores here ring up the first item at regular price and the other rings up at zero, so that's good information to have. I was also wondering if the Publix in Dothan offers the penny item? (Is that the correct term?) If so, exactly how does that work? Do you have to spend a minimum amount in order to get this deal? Also, does the store limit each customer as to how many penny items they can buy?
