Default Changes to Publix coupon policy

Was talking to someone who works at customer service and she told me that they are coming up with a new coupon policy. Seems there have several complaints about differences between the stores and they are attempting to make it more uniform.

Here is what I gathered from our conversation:
    1. No more Target coupons
    2. No more BJ coupons
    3. Will only be able to use one coupon on a BOGO; their reasoning is why
get xx off on a "free item". I asked more about that and that is what it
    sounded like.

She was sharing some experiences that her store has had with some coupon users (the ones that give everyone else a black eye). She cited specifics examples of out and out abuse (in my opinion more like fraud).

Just relating what she told me, take for what its worth.

BTW this store is in Central Florida (Poinciana)

Thanks for sharing that. I have been told by a number of managers that the Publix official coupon policy is being worked on. I will wait and see what changes this brings.

No more BJs and Target are something that I expected eventually. My stores are so inconsistent about both, but especially Target. I've stopped even trying to use Target as a competitor at Publix even though it IS a competitor IMHO. The bizarre thing is that they will take Walgreens and CVS but not Target. Whatever. I've stopped trying.

The 1 coupon on a BOGO thing will mean that I'm done shopping at Publix, though. BJs has a way better coupon policy in that case.

I do wish that corporate would come up with an across-the-board coupon policy that I could print out and take to the store with me, though. I'm so tired of every store, every manager, and every cashier having their own rules on coupons. It makes shopping at Publix more frustrating than it's worth.

im sure if they do implement this new policy, they will have to revise it after they see how many fewer customers they have.

i am jealous of the double coupon publix stores but if i was running publix and i wanted to cut corners on the coupon policy, i would start with the double coupons and then the competitor stores qs. that would make more sense to me. using 2 qs on a BOGO offer is expected at any store you shop at. i highly doubt publix will stray from that.

If the new BOGO policy comes to be, that's the worst decision they'll ever make. Why they'd actually want to lose money by doing that is beyond me. I thought they were in the business of making money, but I guess I was wrong.

Yeah they majority of the time that I use a coupon on that free item, it's a manufacturer coupon so they are not losing any more money by taking that coupon on that free item. Sure there are times that I may have publix coupons that apply to that free item but I would say the manufacturers outweigh that one.

Since only price conscious consumers are likely to spend the time cutting coupons, coupons function as a form of price discrimination, enabling retailers to offer a lower price only to those consumers who would otherwise go elsewhere. In the city, Publix is only one of many.

Each division is working on a new coupon policy, but most of the stuff listed on here isn't it. Target just launched fresh produce in a large number of their stores, you think Publix is going to take them off the competitor list?
