I don't know if this is the correct forum topic for this but I am wondering if anyone else noticed (maybe it has been for a while but I noticed it tonight) that recently they are manually entering publix coupon codes (grant it they are only a few digits but it is still time consuming) AND has anyone else had your items mostly bagged by the bagger and then when you hand over your coupons the cashier asks the bagger IF you bought each item you have a coupon for and the bagger is going through the bags to see if it is the right item, size etc? Is this part of the policy change or just my bad luck?

Some Publix coupons have barcodes and some (the majority I believe) only have LU#s. If they only have a LU#, they have to key them in as there's nothing to scan.

As for your second part, I think with the new coupon policy training - all the cashier's are probably a little freaked out. I suspect that will die down eventually, especially if you frequent one Publix and one cashier

Thanks for the reply! I think you are right, this will all die down at some point.

    Publix unveils new coupon policy

    Wednesday, May 18, 2011

”For those of you behind the coupon curve, Publix has instated its new coupon policy.

The supermarket has always been generous about how it honors coupons, but some have worried with the airing of TLC’s “Extreme Couponing” that the store would pull back to protect itself from zealous shoppers. …”

I have the same bad luck at times. I thought if the coupon scanned, then it's a good coupon and the cashier didn't have to decide for herself by asking the bagger to dig and look....but it happens... :(
