Default Anyone being refused on b1g1f cpns.?

I have several stores that refuse to take a b1g1 mf. on their b1g1f sales unless I purchase 4 of the items. I called customer relations and the district manager called me back. I could NOT make him understand the proper use of cpns. in this type of situation. He kept telling me I would have to buy 4 of the b1g1f items, therefore paying oop for the first one and then get the other 3 items free. I explained to him that coupons are a form of payment like cash or foodstamps and he came back with the comment about them being worth .01/1.00 cent. He also made a comment about how long did I expect Publix to stay in business if they gave stuff away. We talked for at least 30 min. and I saw we weren't getting anywhere so I told him I'd email some of the companies that issue b1g1f cpns. to get they're input on the proper usage of their b1g1f when the item is on sale b1g1f. I emailed S.C. Johnson and P & G so should hear from them next week. Anyone else have this problem or can give me advice?

I haven't had any issues with this at Publix, but I can say that when I lived in a different area the chains there made you buy 4 items w/a BOGO sale in order to also use a BOGO coupon. Totally free is nice, but if it's something that you use then either way it's still a good deal, KWIM?

I had the same thing happen in GA were we get 50% off so I would not have been getting them for free...the Glade would have still been $1.69 each....have not heard back from Corp yet but will let you know when I do. I did call the www.centsoff.com people who are the watch dog group for coupon use and fraud and they agreed that the wording is for the one free and therefore you can use additional Qs on the one you "buy". I would call CS back and ask to speak with the DM's boss. He is wrong, and needs to understand proper coupon usage. Good Luck!

It's still really good to use 2 REALLY good coupons on the BOGO's :) Better than having to buy 4:) Sorry you had an issue.....Hope this doesn't start everywhere...but alas, I guess we couldn't expect it to last forever

what do you mean we couldn't expect it to last forever? we are not doing anything wrong....

Believe me, the publix corporate offices and the manufacturers work together on the sales. they know exactly which coupons are out.

They WANT you to come in and buy the stuff and use the coupons... (and keep buying the stuff even when it's not on sale LOL)

Publix makes more money promoting the item ("slotting fees") than they do selling it anyway... and, as noted, they get reimbursed for the full value of the coupon (not .01/100) (plus 8 cents).

Got an email from S.C. Johnson today. I didn't expect them to respond this soon. Hopefully it will straighten out the confusion the DM has but since he doesn't consider a coupon as form of "payment" I'll probably have to email them again. I'm posting their response below.

Thank you for asking about our coupon offers. I'd be happy to help.
Please know our Buy-One-Get-One coupon offer is for a free product when you purchase one product. It doesn't matter whether the price of the first product is discounted or not. Therefore you would pay for one product, plus tax.

I hope this answers any confusion you had. If you should have future comments or product needs, feel free to call us toll free at: 1-800-558-5252.

    Best regards,

    Stephanie

Exactly. A coupon is a form of payment issued by the manufacturer; a coupon as payment is the same as a check or a credit card, with the difference being that the monies owed are reimbursed by the manufacturer (plus $.08 handling), instead of by the consumer (or their cc company).

    Coupons are money.

I will be so happy when everyone understands this.

    Good luck with your SM/DM!!

That guy sounds like an idiot...

Does he not understand that when he refuses coupons he is turning away sales and money. It benefits them to take all the coupons because A they get paid by the manufacturer, B they sell more of those items than they would without the coupons, and C most importantly they get paid 8 cents on top of that coupon.

I don't know about him but if someone was willing to say here let me give you 8 cents many times a day, I am going to take all of it and it will add up.
