HI PUBLIX: Gainesville FL Shoppers, Please check in

Originally, asked everyone for help in identifying coupon friendly Publix in Gainesville area for DS in school. (thanks everyone for input)

I am changing this post that you all may network and give each other the heads up to which stores have coupon booklets and special sales/ clearance etc. And just a spot on here to say hello to each other.

Thanks again for all your help!

Hands down, the most coupon friendly Publix in the entire city is the SpringHill Commons store that is located on NW 39th Avenue near I-75. It is definitely worth the drive. My friend Amanda (the coupon Queen) introduced me to this particular store and I no longer shop anywhere else. The management is coupon friendly and they do not look for reasons to hassle you. Good Luck to you and your son!

By the way, STEER CLEAR OF PUBLIX @ WESTGATE (near campus on NW 34th Street)! They are NASTY, RUDE and TOTALLY anti-coupon!

I am surprised that he has trouble at that store--I have always found them extremely coupon friendly. No issues with Target q's (duh, they are right next door), and I have yet to have a cashier there give me a hard time. Tell him not to give up! And smaller transactions are easier, for the customer as well as the cashier. Other stores I have found to be q-friendly are the Hunter's Crossing (NW 53rd & 43rd), Newberry Square (by Kmart) and Steeplechase/Jonesville (my personal favorite!). Good luck!

I'm surprised because the Publix by Target is one of my favorites. They have a lot of young laidback employees who have no problem handling coupons, and I can't recall ever having a coupon turned down there, even Save a Lot competitor coupons. I go early in the morning and usually have about 10-20 coupons, so maybe it helps that it's less busy. The older store on Archer Rd is usually ok too, but I find they are not as well stocked.

The Millhopper one on 53rd Ave and NW 43rd is probably out of the way for him but they are great there too - any time the cashier has a question, it's usually okay'ed by a supervisor.

There's another Publix farther west on Archer Rd near Tower Rd, and they were great with all my coupons there and matched a Target gift card offer.

Agree about avoiding 34th St and University Ave - was denied a very small amount of overage by cashier and then manager. Store is old and small anyway.

I have had the opposite experience at the one on NW 39th Ave near I-75. Sometimes they are ok but one time I had a cashier who was very nice but rang up my entire purchase, I paid, then he noticed I had overage (on all of my coupons) then marked them all down and re-rang it. Had the same thing happen at the one on 39th and 13th St and that cashier was very crabby.

Those were isolated incidents but there are so many other Publixes here that are better and I'm more loyal to the ones who don't give me a hassle :)

Has he tried the one on 34th St near Williston Rd? When I lived close to UF that was my favorite. It was before my couponing days so I don't know how they are about that, but they were very friendly.

Chiming in to say that I have the best luck at the Publix at 13th and 39th - If Abigail or Lisa are working, go to their line! Abby is the sweetest gal and loves to see how much I save, and Rick Weaver (I guess he's the front end mgr?) is GREAT!

I'm glad, also, to hear about the Williston Publix - I work at Florida Works now, so that is right by me at work!

I shop the 39th and 13th. Rick Weaver is the store manager there. Deal with him if you need to deal with a manager. Some of the assistant managers there can give you the run around. Corey IMO is the BEST cashier there. I haven't had a problem at the Archer Road by Target Publix. I don't shop there unless I am on that side of town. I think alot of it has to do with getting to know your cashier. I know Amanda too and to me that is how she has a lot of success at the Springhill Commons Publix.

Sorry have not responded sooner, but was stuck on a netbook.
Thank You everyone for taking the time to give me the lowdown on Gainesville Publix, on this thread and via PM. This is one of the reasons I love HCW, Everyone is so helpful.
I am in Gainesville, though not much of a sale going on for the items he needs. But he will know where the best places to shop are thanks to you guys!

Now that there is a Gaineville thread so to speak, and there are so many of you up here...perhaps you guys can network and keep each other informed of where the booklets are and any special clearance or in store specials going on. We did this for Volusia county and I have found it very helpful and enjoyable talking with others in my area.

FYI, I did run into Archer/35th yesterday for a couple of basics. They have some Pantene on clearance. They also have Publix store coupons on a tearpad down the healthcare aisle .50/1 Makes a pretty good deal if you have any manf q and you can use the types in the basket.(located at the west end of the store in clearance) Also, there were some Gillette Shampoos and other items there. ($2/1 gillette coupons out there) hth

    Thanks again everyone!!!

Do you guys feel like we often miss out on the store coupon booklets that everyone mentions here? It seems like I can never find them or we get them too late (just found the Shrek flyer that expired in May).

I was excited to find the Smart Savings flyer this week so I just thought I would pass it on. The old Publix on Archer Rd (closer to Walmart) had a bunch on the left as you walked in the door. The newer one on Archer (Target plaza) also had a display but only a couple of flyers in it. Hope that helps!

I don't really ever have a hard time finding the coupon booklets. I know that we do seem to get ours slightly later than other people mention, but its usually only about a week later. I do find that they seem to disappear very quickly though. We must have some "closet couponers" that don't let everyone else know they exist I tend to like the new Archer Rd Publix also. They have been very friendly and accommodating for me. But alas, every store seems to go through spells. Hopefully they have set their mind on their policy and will keep it the way it is because it makes me very happy.

I found the Smart Savings book at 13th/39th. I usually run there or Main St. to find my books just because they are closest to me and I can run in and run out while we are doing other errands close to home.
