Default RiteAid $5/$25 use @ Publix

Today I stopped @ a Publix store I haven't been to in years. The mgr was very nice about taking Wags RR because they clearly stated "mfr coupon" at the top and it scanned w/out any problems.

He did tell me, though, corporate supposedly is cracking down on all stores about the RiteAid 5/25 Q's. His store had been particularly hard hit by abusers. He shook his head as he explained one customer bought $200 worth of groceries, asked the clerk to break it into 8 orders and wanted to use a $5 RA on each one.

The store where I regularly shop had an irate customer on hand last week because she wanted to use a RA pharmacy coupon on her grocery bill. The clerks were still trying to compose themselves after the lady left. Frankly, I can't blame Publix for not accepting them, especially when some people so blatantly violate the leniency shown to all of us.

Just curious............have others heard anything from their store clerks and/or managers about competitor Q's? Seems like the policy changes as fast as the wind direction anymore.

We don't have Rite Aid around here but apparently my Publix will take the $/$$ CVS coupons. I had some last week so I asked and the manager told me that they took them. Go figure! I had never asked about those before because it makes no sense to me to use a drugstore coupon at Publix.

FWIW, my Publix will take as many competitor coupons as you are qualified to buy with your order so I see nothing "abusive" about that customer using multiple Rite Aid coupons if the store takes Rite Aid coupons. My store will take 1 $10/$50 Winn Dixie coupon for every $50 that you spend. It makes sense, though, seeing as Winn Dixie would do the same, KWIM?

Funny you would post this. I just used one today at Publix and the cashier questioned it. We do not have a Rite Aid but it has always been accepted. I am not the only one who uses them. However, since we have a new CS mgr, she wasn't to willing to take it. Said she would take it this time but would speak to the Store Mgr about it. Can't wait to see what happens.

A Publix near me stopped taking the RA Qs just today. So I guess it is a corporate crackdown.

Are they only cracking down on Rite Aid or will they stop taking CVS and Walgreens as well? It figures, since I only just discovered that I could use the $/$$ CVS coupons at Publix last weekend

We do not have Raid Aid Tampa, FL but I see that some store we do not accept the same competitor coupons than others.

The mgr I talked to said the RA Q was the issue that caused corporate to get involved. My regular store will take both CVS and Wags. However, another store 3 miles up the road won't take either and they are right next to Wags!!

Guess we're all going to have to wait to see what happens. I'd hate to not be able to spend my RR's from Wags @ Publix. My regular store has spoiled me rotten.

    Suburban Atlanta for me.

BTW, the stores I mentioned were in two different counties and I work in yet another county besides those two. The store 1/4 mile from my office won't take RA, CVS, Wags or Food Lion. That place is a last resort for me.

I actually wonder if this is a district thing and not a corporate thing. I always wonder that when competitor coupon rules suddenly change for some of us but not for all of us. I think that a lot of times the store managers say "corporate" when they really mean "district," KWIM?
