Default Publix Twelve Oaks ,savannah doesn,t accept coupon dicount that exceed more than $5 off any more????!!!

I have been shopping at Publix twelve oaks for quite long time. Before I get to know how to stack coupon, I spend lots and lots at publix.
As of today, 5/3/2010 at Publix Twelve oaks in Savannah, GA
I am very disapponted today that I coudn't use coupon $10 off 20 and $10 off 30 from world market and k-mart.
The cahier stated that they won't accept coupon that exceed more than $5 off anymore(I used it just a week ago)
I never try to shop things for free or walk away with zero bill. I never try to abuse the policy. In this economic time plus being low income how to saving from grocery bill could help family to survive. All I do is to stacking coupon to help lower the bill and discount to save some bucks.
. I'm very upset and I walked away from transaction when I am informed by store manager about refusing coupon. I felt really bad for the cashier that had to clean up my items. However, I just think it's not fair. How much I've been spent at this place in the past .

Well, if they are still taking $5/xx competitor coupons, I'd be thrilled! Our region made a similar decision back in December and will no longer take any competitor dollars off coupons at all. Since the competitor coupons are a straight loss to the store, I can understand them changing the rules on those as they see fit and it is the store manager's prerogative to change those as they see the profit/loss sheets.

I can understand being unhappy with being surprised at the checkout (because that sucks) but I can understand the reasoning behind the decision.

You can still get some great deals at Publix though!

    Agreeing with Mom2Natalya.

TBH, I'm surprised they ever took World Market or Kmart $x/x coupons. Neither one would be considered competitors at my Publix.

I can see trying the Kmart coupons, (doesn't the Kmart on Montgomery Street still have a full grocery department?) but I wouldn't have figured using a World Market coupon, as IMO they are a specialty-type store, selling more home-decor items with a few food items thrown in.

To have a Publix that accepts either of those stores as competitors is pretty good. You can still use Kmart and World Market's store coupons on items you purchase, and stack with manufacturer coupons.

Sorry for the inconvenience you experienced at the register. :(

I shop regularly at the one in Richmond Hill and rarely have coupon issues. However, with that being said, I doubt they will accept either of those two coupons because they have told us that they can only accept competitior coupons within a five mile radius. (They have taken some though that I wouldn't have thought to be a competitior like Harvey's, which closed). You could always try, sometimes it works, but I'd hate for you to come all that way to get told no again. Maybe it would be best to call and ask first.

I forgot to mention, they recently told my mother they couldn't accept her $5 off $25 coupon for Save-a-Lot which is a full-fledged grocery store because there isn't one located within the five mile radius.

I think the manager could have done better since you are a regular customer like accept it that time but let you know the policy has changed. Especially since it was a recent change.

Not necessarily - it all depends who checks you out. I've always had extreme scrutiny of my coupons at the 12oaks location, RH is touch and go - most are coupon friendly and know what they do. Best one to shop for me is the one in Largo Plaza [or whatever it's called - next to Staples]...
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
