Default Re: Newbie Questions for Publix Shoppers

Hi. I've recently been made aware of the massive amount of money I've been losing in my grocery bill by not utilizing coupons! I work with a coupon-guru who has been a preceptor in my shopping and also introduced me to this site.
On this site is there a glossary for terms used? Such as WT= wine tag and I've picked up that Q = coupon...etc..
Also she explained what blinkies and peelies are, but I'm sure there is more terminology to learn and wonder if there is an index for such.
I have a long way to go, but I have my accordian file and 2 sunday newspapers worth of coupons and willing to try!
Thanks for all the information and the great resource you guys provide!

Newbie here!
I am heading to Publix this morning. I have some coupons I printed off Boodle and also some coupons for the same products that were in Sundays paper. I don't think I can use BOTH of those on one item, is that right? But if Publix has a store coupon, then I CAN use their coupon and the manufacturers coupon?
My Publix is vey anal about coupons. The last time I went I had a few Boodle coupons they took into the office to verify which took 5 minutes. Its somewhat a hassle but worth it if I save money.
One last question. If they have BOGO, I can use TWO coupons? I have only been using one!
Thanks for any help everyone.

I'm sorry I missed this question. The coupons that you print from Boodle and the ones in your Sunday are usually Manufacturer's coupons and will say it across the top of the coupon. You are correct in your assumption that you can only use one of these per item.
You can however stack a Publix store coupon with this and use both on one item.
For a BOGO, you are allowed to use a mfr coupon for each item. HTH.

Here is a C & P of an email with the official corporate answers to these questions, you might want to print it up and keep it with you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Publix Customer,

I am in receipt of your email written to our corporate office. I
appreciate
you taking your valuable time to write and share your question
concerning
coupon use in our stores.

In keeping with our mission statement to be passionately focused on
customer
value we are required to follow the rules and regulations that govern
the
acceptance of coupons. With that you are able to use a Publix coupon
along
with a manufacturer coupon for each item purchased (BOGO would be the
purchase of 2 items) unless either of the coupons have a restriction
printed
on them.

Thank you again for taking the time to write. On behalf of the
140,000+
Publix associates who work hard every day to make our customers'
shopping
experience a pleasure, I appreciate you giving us the opportunity to
prove
we are focused on making Publix the place "where shopping is a
pleasure".

Sincerely,
Richard Cyphers

HI Re: Newbie Questions for Publix Shoppers

If Publix is having an awesome sale which matches my coupons, I split up my shopping trips to avoid having to call a manager for an override. The manager and/or cashier has to put their code in for each coupon over $50 (at least at two of my stores). This is time consuming.

One of the managers suggested I split my orders up and do multiple transactions. She explained that they have that feature in place to avoid cashiers being tempted to do something shady. I have one coupon friendly manager I love and I apologized one time for going over the $50. She was so sweet and said "oh, that's ok, don't worry about it. It gives me a chance to catch up with you, find out about some great deals and tickles me to see how much you save".

Speaking of how much I save..... I'm beginning to think couponing is a lot like drugs. I remember when I achieved my goal of normally always saving more than I spend. Boy was I excited. Yesterday, I spent $60 and saved $140. The cashier/baggers were all excited and making a big deal but I was almost disappointed! If I spent $60, I want to save at least $180-$200! But.... I did buy some extravagent items including a couple of suishi's which were absolutely delicious!

I'm a newbie, so I don't know if this is the place to ask this, but is anyone in or around Clearwater, FL? I am wondering if Publix will accept Target (or other store) coupons here. I've never tried it.

Thanks!

Most of the areas in Central Fl allow the use of SuperTarget printable Q's as competitor. I'll let somebody else that lives in Clearwater weigh in on that particular area, though.
I would suggest just asking at the Customer Service desk, they are very pleasant and if you run in to any issues with the cashier, you can refer them to the person at the desk. If the answer insn't to your satisfaction, speak with the Store Manager.

I live in the area and haven't used the Target coupons myself but, have heard of many, many people around here successfully doing it.

Thanks for the info! Would a Target coupon be considered a store coupon that I can combine with a manufacturer's coupon...or is it one I'd have to use alone since it's from another store?

I'll ask at my local Publix stores, just to make sure I know their specific policies. I saw someone mention using Winn-Dixie coupons too. That is really good to know and could be a great savings. If Publix is having a sale on something and another store has a coupon for the product too (and if you can use a manufacturer coupon on TOP of that)...you could really cut down your bill a lot!
