Is anyone else here having a problem with their stores accepting the Knox coupons? I have been denied several times at the two Publix stores closest to me. I live in an area that probably doesn't have too many heavy coupon shoppers, and the cashiers and managers freak out when they see that the coupon is for more than the price of the gelatin. They keep telling me that I'm not buying the item in the photo, and that it would be like they were paying me, which they will not do. It doesn't matter how many times I point out the wording of 'ANY Knox product', they just keep refusing them. Does anyone know what the actual Publix policy is on coupon overage, or is it up to each manager's discretion?

This is surely a "YMMV" issue. I have two Publix nearby and have had so many different scenerios. Once, I had tried to use two coupons with two items. The manager gave me back one coupon, let me get two free items on one coupon and gave me back the change. Other times I have tried, I have had no problem with one coupon for one item and overage.
One time, I was trying to buy 4 knox with 4 coupons. The register person refused them. I complained and the manager gave me the 4 knox and $10.41 cash!
I look at couponing as a board game. Sometimes I get a good roll of the dice and sometimes I have to miss a turn or "go to jail". Each time can be different. Good luck!![]()
You might consider using the self-checkout. :) It won't beep, and as long as you have more coupons than items and you don't go into the tax it shouldn't beep at all and then there's no intervention by the cashiers. You're not doing anything wrong so it's not like you're trying to scam them, just avoiding having the same conversation over and over.

I had a cashier look at them really closely and call over two superiors--the store manager and a floor manager. The store manager quickly said they could not give me money back but I could have the items for free. As he was walking away I objected, saying that the store would get the whole amount of the coupon back even if they only grant me part of it. He admitted it was a valid concern.
So, then, the two managers stood there scratching their heads and decided to give me the two Knox products free (by keying in a "store Q") and handed me back my Qs! I went to a Publix down the road, and they took them with overage no problem.
So, it REALLY depends, but to answer this thread's question, yes, I had trouble using them one time.

Hello! I am working with the Area Managers of the Publix's locally in Hillsborough County (Brandon area specifically). I personally read the emails from the District Manager who stated that Publix is ironing out their policy but the Overage is reimbursed to the stores so it should be passed back to the customer even if it is at a "cash back" level. I was shocked and don't feel that this is fair to Publix...we just want it to go towards our other groceries!! He went further to explain that any store that is accepting the coupons and only allowing us to get the products for free (without overage) is actually 'stealing' because the store gets reimbursed for the face value, but then doesn't pass along that value to the consumer. You ROCK Publix... I bet here in the near future we will see some better published Coupon Policies (and from what I have seen, they are WELL in our favor)! It seems that the Top-Level Managers know what is going on, but there are quite a few Cashiers who haven't paid attention to the policies in place so it is frustrating for us customers. I would check with Cust service first before the hassle of being in the checkout line. Then you can use the Mgrs name when the Cashier doesn't want to cooperate. Hope that helps![]()
I hope that makes its way to Atlanta. I have a store where the store manager told me that overage is okay (as long as spent on items in same transaction). His cashiers and now customer service managers are making me feel like a thief as they say "it's not okay but we have to let you do it because the manager said so". This of course floored me and it took all I had to not argue with them on the spot. I instead went home and cooled down and next time I see the manager have another discussion when I am calm. Call me crazy....not only do I want the overage per their policy but I also want to be not treated like I am doing something wrong when I get it. I understand when the cashier needs to ask and the CSM says it's fine...but when the CSM says "no it's wrong but we have to let him do it" is very unprofessional IMO.
It's usually not an issue but apparently the Knox coupon drew some extra attention to it.
I had problems at one store I went to that isn't my usual store. My usual store was out of an item that I had a Q for that was expiring that day so I went to the next Publix over. They told me I couldn't use the knox coupons at all. I questioned why since I had just done it half an hour before at the other store, they said "well they're going to get in trouble and I refuse to" and then said "you can't get something for free, nevermind get money back for it." I said fine, void them off and hand me my coupons back please. After hastily shoving them at me, I said "oh can you explain why I got all of these other items free then?" She really peeved me off and I just couldn't hold it in anymore. She completely ignored me and walked away. I love Publix but I'm definitely sticking to my usual one. They actually get excited about my savings!
Knox definately HIGHTENED the awareness of Overage here in Tampa/Brandon as well!! It's too bad when a cashier (or Mgr) decides they want a power trip and refuse to LOGICALLY think through the use of a coupon (they get reimbursed + handling) regardless of what the consumer is getting credited. I agree...totally unprofessional! Luckily most of our stores are knowledgable...but there are still those FEW we know stay away from!
