Default Re: My great shopping trip at Publix!- Post your brags here

The Thanksgiving RAOK contest ended early as the contestants figured out the answers but now want details of the shop.

How many shopping carts? 16 (the cold ones were put in the cooler in back)
How many hours spent at Publix over a two day period: 12
What did my bff and I eventually eat with our fingers in the produce dept: Suishi
How much did we spent? $527.19
How much did we save? $2011

I didn't mention it but I think I have at least $60 in rebates to send in (South Beach diet 3 - $10 gift cards, $5/3 Wyeth/Tylenol, $10 Special K jeans which comes as a check and $15 Pabst meat rebate). I don't officially count rebates until they come in or at least I get them in the mail.

The gist of it is that the Publix coupons, competitor's coupons (I used a ton of Target and Winn Dixie Q's), BOGO coupons, a few free coupons, etc. all came together on Tuesday.

Why would someone attempt such a big shop? Well with so many deals matching up I couldn't resist and I was helping my bff get ready for a big sweet 16 party for her daughter. There are also a lot of food drives this time of year..... and I'm getting ready to go on vacation for almost 2 weeks without coupons, shopping or the internet!!!! I wonder if I'll need treatment for withdrawal symptoms!!!!

One of the big deals was my bff went to 3 Winn Dixie's and picked up 35 of the $10/$50 coupons from the flyer. Right off the top $350 saved!!!! I've been asked to break up my orders at Publix anyway so that the supervisor doesn't have to manually enter their code with each coupon. This took a great deal of time - breaking down into $50 orders and putting the correct coupons with the correct groceries.

Then the Target printables came into play big time.

The RAGU pasta sauce was BOGO for $2.09. Target has coupons for $.75/1 and I had tons of the $.50/2 MFR coupons. Therefore each bottle of Ragu cost less then a nickel. The Publix employee putting up stock offered to go in back and get cases of it for us. I think we got 4 cases of 12.

Cereal was a big way to get our totals up. Had lots of B2G1 coupons and $1/1 coupons thereby making the cereal completely free but getting us $24 of the $50 needed to use a $10 off coupon. I don't remember how many boxes we got but my stockpile now has well over 100 now that I got for free or nearly free.

Also used 50 of the Halls BOGO coupons as there was a BOGO sale going on. The cough drops were $1.45 each.

Also got 3 of the Tylenol products & used 2 of the IP's for $5 off. Got at least 15 Rembrandt mouthwash for $4.99 and used the $5 off Q's.

The Pillsbury cake mixes were BOGO @ $1.09 or $1.59 and I had a bunch of $1/2 coupons on either two cake mixes or frostings. My bff loves the Krusteez muffin mixes which were BOGO and we used 2 - $.50/1 coupons.

We stocked up on Publix butter on sale for $2.XX.

I had a raincheck for 10 - Spray n Wash BOGO @ $2.79 and I used 4 printables for $1/1 and 10 - Publix $1/1.

Giadelli (sp?) chocolate - used these to get totals up closer to $50.

Got 2 really big bags of Pedigree dog food on sale for $13.99?. Used 2 of the $1/1 MFR (couldn't get IP to print) and 2 - $1/1 from Target. Also got 3 - Tidy Cat scoopable litter - big tubs (27 lbs.) for $10.99 less $1/1 MFR and $3/1 Target. Got 15 cans of the Purina One for free.

Bought 10 of those sandwiches - Deli Creations and used the Publix coupons to get free Publix 2 liters of soda (for the party). Also used the $1/1 MFR coupons on the sandwiches which were on sale for $2.50.

Got 19 of the Contessa dinners on sale for $3.99 less $1/1 MFR and 15 of the Mrs. Pauls' fish on sale for $3 & used $1/1 coupons.

Got some of the Whitehouse applesauce Publix bogo coupons with the MFR $.50/1. Got a bunch of Mahatma rice with the $.50/2 and $1/1 coupons. Got 20 packs of Mission tortillas (Saturday night's dinner party is make your own burritos). Tons of refried beans, black olives, some of the Green Giant vegis on bogo, etc. Also used the Target little debbie oatmeal cake $.50/1 Q's - my boys love these!

4 - Simply Orange Juice's, onions, 2 plates of suishi, 2 boxes of fried chicken, 1 Roto. chicken, lots of cookies, the South Beach Diet 5 different products that qualify for the rebate 3 times. 3 Gallons of milk, some bread, Nabisco cookies on BOGO (used Target printables, MFR $1/milk, pecans on clearance. About 20 boxes of Electrosol and probably 100 of the Pillsbury Refrigerated products using the $.75/1 Target coupons matched together with MFR coupons. Orville Red. Popcorn was another great deal on BOGO. Used: $1/1 Target Q's and $.55/1 peelies so went from $4/1 a box to $.90/2! Chinet napkins were $1.29 and $1.79 regular price and we had the Publix booklet MFR coupons for $1/1 and also found peelies on some of the napkins.

Ok, Bugface is that enuf detail for ya?????

Take care everyone - I certainly don't recommend a shop like this to anyone! It took over our life for 2 days and the stuff has not been put away yet! The party is tomorrow

PS: The Publix I went to is SUPER FRIENDLY, COUPON FAIR, and wonderful!!!! They were so helpful and so much fun! There is another Publix within a few miles that is completely opposite: unfriendly, generally coupon haters and a small store.

Ok, so I know that I did not get a TON of stuff, but wait til you see my total!!

The other night, I went in and got 11 things of Peter Pan peanut butter and 5 boxes of Fruit Stackers fruit snacks, right?

Well it went like this:

11 Peter Pan tubs @ $1 each= $11.00
5 boxes of Fruit Stackers @ 2.69 each= $13.45

TOTAL BEFORE Q's= 24.45
-11 $1/peter pan q's (11.00)
=13.45
-5 of the FREE FRUIT STACK Q's from the back of Cookie Crisp (13.45)

Since we now have NO FOOD TAX here in SC, my total was:

Well, it's certainly not as big a deal as some of the ones posted above, but here's what I got today:
6 Boxes of Cereal
2 Jars Smucker's Jam
2 6-pks Mott's Applesauce
4 64-oz Bottles of Mott's Apple Juice
4 boxes of Ronzoni Healthy Harvest Whole Wheat Pasta
12 32-oz Bottles of G2 Gatorade

Total OOP: $15.20
Total Savings: $60.38

That's a best for me... so far.
