Didn't do as well as all of you, but I'm cooking all day to freeze for the next couple of weeks so had to buy a lot of produce and meat.

However, I had the best little cashier ever! Here in Atlanta the Sunday papers are $2.00 each, but you usually can buy a double pack for $2.50. They were all out of the doubles, but I bought four papers anyway. My cashier asked if I didn't want the doubles instead & I said they were gone, so he rang mine up as if they were doubled anyway! I thanked him, and he said that's how they're supposed to handle them, but not all the cashiers do it. He was keeping track of what prices I was getting; kept complimenting me on them (Wow! You almost got the instant oatmeal free!). What a nice change from some of the coupon drill sergeants who act like you're doing something illegal!

Oooh I didn't know that about the doubles! My DH even asked our Publix and they said he had to buy one single since they sold all the doubles :shrug7:

Anyways, I had a similar cashier on Friday night here in Atl. at our Publix and it was so nice to have her cheering me on and rallying other cashiers to come look at my savings! I felt almost embarrassed from all the praise! It was a great shopping day. Glad you had one too!!

Hello ladies! Just wanted to let you know that it might be worth driving around one Saturday or Sunday morning. There are numerous "AJC dealers" that sell the the AJC for $1 a piece. There used to be on at Costco in Duluth and one on the Steve Reynold's off ramp from I-85. Now there is one that stands in front of Rooms to Go on Pleasant Hill. Just a thought.

I bought papers from the $1 vendors all summer and fall, but they've disappeared from my side of Atlanta (Stone Mountain/Snellville). Or if they're over this way I can't find them. But I do keep a lookout for them. Good to know they're over on Steve Reynolds - I get over that way occasionally, so thanks!

However, the Publix doubles aren't too bad - the double wrappers are marked two for $2.50, but Publix rings them @ $2.35 so that's better than at the other stores.

Yeah, I haven't been out in a few weeks to catch the $1 vendors. But, they were there a month ago at least.

Just a heads up, you are paying $2.50 for the paper. They ring up $2.34 everywhere b/c once you add the tax in, it comes to $2.50.

My CVS rings them up at $2.50 THEN adds tax--that's why I like the way Publix rings them. If it's supposed to be $2.50 total, I'm going to ask about it at CVS next time I'm there. Thanks!

I've been driving with dollar bills last few weeks and none of the street vendors are around -- too cold? CVS seems to keep double wrappers longer. Plus, you can burn through ECBs!

I wanted to share my great shopping trip today with those who would appreciate it. Not done as well as some of you, but I saved $101 and only spent $86.
