    News Publix: Tylenol Recall

Not too long ago there was a great deal on Tylenol that many of us took advantage of. Mcneil has issued a recall on some of these products. When I checked my stockpile that was bought at Publix stores in Gainesville and Port Orange, I found the lot numbers to be included in the recall. I bought the Extra Strength Rapid Release Gels. Other types are also included, so you might want to check yours.
    For more info please read:

    MCNEIL PRODUCT RECALL

    http://www.fda.gov/downloads/Safety/Recalls/UCM197813.pdf

Additional products included in the recall include:

Motrin, Benadryl Allergy, Rolaids, Simply Sleep, and St. Joseph
Please read the above press release and PDF file for more detailed information on products, sizes and lot numbers.
This is not a Publix issue, my mom has St Joseph's that she bought at Walgreens that is part of the recall. Check your medicine cabinet.

Mods: if this is not the correct place for this, let me know. Just felt that since many of our people stocked up on these at Publix, that they needed to know.

You know, this really bothers me. About 3 years ago, many stores had HUGE sales on Children's liquid regular Tylenol and the cold medicine. Amazon had a blow-out deal and I snatched a whole bunch up for next to nothing. Then, as we all know, about 6 months later they issued a major recall on the children's Tylenol varieties. This recall sounds eerily similar. I was convinced at the time that they knew a recall might be impending therefore they tried to sell as much as they could before they were forced to take stock back. Grrrr!!!!!

Don't get me wrong, my professional background is in pharmaceutical research. Nonetheless, something about this happening twice in such a relatively short span doesn't sit well with me!

Thanks for reminding me of this. I'm in Tampa and the ones I purchased at Publix are on the recall list.

Do you need the receipts to take these back?

My Tylenol PM is on the recall list. What are we supposed to do with it? Take it back to Publix (of course I dont have the receipt!) or send it back to the company?

Well I called the number for CS, I was told I could mail them only 2 boxes/bottles to get my money refunded (plus shipping)
My problem is I have 5 boxes! This doesn't seem right, I paid my money for this product (FSA use it or loose it LOL!) but MCNeil will only refund for 2 bottles??? This is really bothering me, not sure what I can do (probably nothing but get over it) but I don't have to like it! Has anyone heard anything different?

Odd....I thought it was just me. I was thinking the same thing!!!! The fact that they added to the recall makes me wonder if they knew that this was coming and they were unloading what they could in hopes that they would not have to dump it later. Very foolish as they will lose a lot of customers!
I use a lot of tylenol and I stocked up big time on this and have used a lot of it. When I gather up the bottles I leave places, so I have when I am there, I will still have aobut 8 bottles. I need to call that number.

That's nuts. I must've bought at least 25-30 bottles of tylenol when it was free before. I'm just starting to check mine and have come up with four on the recall list out of the eight I brought to the computer. If at least half of these bottle turn out to be on the recall list, I'm just out of luck for for all but two bottles? That is sooo not accceptable. Tylenol has definitely lost my family. Can you return these to Publix stores??

I called the CS number: 888-222-6036 and spoke to someone with regards to my tylenol that I had on hand, 6 bottles. After working through their maze of a vicious circle of directing me to their website which directed me to the number etc,, I finally chose to speak to a rep.
I told her that I use a lot of tylenol and do not know what I am going to do now that it has been recalled. She said to check with my physician for an alternative.
I let her know that I had 6 bottles in hand and that my mom has some also, but I would call with her info later. She did ask if we had any gastric issues, to which I informed her of issues that myself and mother had, which we did not attribute to the medicine until informed of recall.
I gave her the various lot numbers (several) and exp dates, she put me on hold and looked them up and they are sending me a full refund for the 6 bottles. When asked what I should do with them, she told me how to dispose of them.
Apparently, someone else will be calling me back with regards to the gastric issues.

    HTHs

(BTW...I use at least 3-50ct bottles of these a month! I guess I will be going to the generic until it is all straightened out)
