BLUSH So, I e-mailed about the DND5's, now what? (updated post #1, 1/1/10)

Are they going to call me?????

I'm not a confrontational person when it comes to coupons

I'm one of those people who burst into tears, with any sort of confrontation over a stinkin coupon.

I'm just livid they were willing to loose $3.32 over .40 (.40/2. Pillsbury last week on sale).

    Help I need a backbone.

    ETA 1/1/10

Well, I got a call last night from my SM!

I was a little frazzled, kids were hungry and running crazy at the time. (No time to get worried about him saying no.)

Well, it went like this. (I'll keep out the nuiances, like "Cold day huh?"

SM: Hi I got your e-mail about coupons at Publix.
Me: Yes, I was just curious what happened. I've boasted about Publix and how good they are before, in my coupon classes. Now, I'm not sure what is going on. They have stopped doubling coupons that say 'Do not Double at the top."
SM: I'm not sure what you mean, they aren't doubling any of your coupons?
Me: I'm talking abou the ones that are .50 and under that say 'Do not Double' on them. From my understanding. You all were never reimbursed for the doubled part anyhow. It was just to get you into the store.
SM: They still double, I thought.
Me: Well, they double, but the cashier is supressing the coupon.
SM: Supressing the coupon? You mean the computer lets it double, and the cashier supresses it?
Me: Yes, I think it is silly your are willing to loose $4 over .40 doubled coupon.
    SM: Who was your cashier?
Me: Well actually one of your Customer service guys. But, he is really nice. He isn't the only one. Over the last month most of the cashiers are doing this. He just happened to be the one I was going through.
SM: Oh, well they shouldn't do that. If the computer lets it double. They shouldn't supress it. We have been getting as a chain, people coming and using coupons for products they didn't buy. And it will take us like 20 minutes in the night to sort through all the coupons.....(pause). There is absolutely no reason to go to Kroger. We value customer service. And we want to be esp. above Kroger. Don't worry about it. It might take a little time to get everyone on the same page. But, if you have anymore problems let me know, and we will fix the receipt for you.
Me: Oh, thanks, your so sweet. (Husband started making gagging faces.)
    SM: No problem.

Didn't have the heart to tell him I was one of those "couponers". He would have recognized me easily. I've met him multiple times. He knows me by the "family who comes in with their 5 little kids and uses oodles of coupons, and has the patience of a saint." (Said, cashier and him at one time.)

They will forward the email to whatever store you complained about and either the manager or the district manager will give you a call. Normally this has been the way it as worked so hopefully they will call you. No need to be scared and they are just going to either explain why the don't accept DND5 or allow you to come into the store to get your money back.

Usually the store manager of the store you shopped at will call you. They are usually very apologetic and diplomatic, I would't be worried.

big dog, you've been here since 2007, I'm sure you know more about coupons than the average cashier. I always stick to the facts in a complimentary way, always praising SOMETHING in the conversation with the store mgr (you won't get the dm unless you stated in your complaint that you have discussed this with your sm already, even then maybe not). Like I might say a couple of times how nice the cashier was about the whole thing (only if they were!). I had the benefit of seeing my mother in action as a child, and I am a more 'logical' thinker than her, so I have never had a bad 'discussion' with a manager/DM/region office. I also never go into any discussion without researching my topic to the best of my ability and sticking to facts not emotions, and also knowing that I won't win every time. My grandmother always said I should be a lawyer :)

Oh yea, I will stand in line longer to avoid certain cashiers :)

Have you never noticed little dogs always act 'big' and big dogs always act 'little'. That being said, I'm 5' 0'' (almost 1'' not quite). Petite pants are too long for me most of the time. And petite shirts are too short. So since I look like a clown. I tend to joke to get what I want. It is amazing how many flies you catch with honey.

I wish you were going to do it, or my brother, we tell him the same lawyer stuff. (He'd argue with a fence post, if he thought it was in his way.) I know I've been doing this for a long time. But, I still have yet to even sway Target to take more then 3 of the same kind of coupon per day!

I'm glad you got a response and hopefully a resolution to the problem.

I don't see the correlation between people coming into the store and using coupons for products they didn't buy and suppressing doubling of DND coupons. I think that is one of the problems...Publix doesn't recognize what the problem is and therefore it doesn't get fixed or it is fixed at some stores and not fixed at others. I think all of their cashiers need to take a coupon class or something.
Buckle up....it makes it harder for the aliens to suck you out of your car.
