Is pepperoni really a "smoked sausage product"? Sorry if I sound kinda dumb, but I'm not sure what exactly it is and dh thinks its not smoked at all. I see this being trouble for me, but would love to do it. (I had a cashier question if lettuce was a vegetable the other night.. This one could be interesting!) I can't find pepperoni at all on the HF website. What would you say if a cashier questions this?

Doesn't Pepperoni have pork, beef, and chicken (usually). Sausage is purely pork.

I wouldn't use it. But, then again. I've NEVER seen one of these booklets.

Thats what I thought at first, but they do make beef smoked sausage, too. I have a pack of pepperoni in my fridge right now. (Not HF though) It says pork and beef, but nothing about being smoked on it. I actually just sent an email to HF to find out for sure. It's confused me that much!

Hillshire Farm website doesn't list Pepperoni under ANY of their products, so that didn't help. They do list beef and turkey as "smoked sausage", so the term does not just apply to pork products. Pepperoni can also be "smoked" as it turned up some search results.

Has anyone even tried this deal yet? I'm more curious about the coupon wording "Not to exceed purchase price".
It's 35 cents off of ground round,
    Baby, cut that coupon out!

The jury is out on this one. Pepperoni is a dry sausage made from pork and beef and is sometimes cured in a smoke house, but whether or not the mfr considers it a smoked saugage, I don't know. I emailed Sara Lee (parent company) and asked, I'll let you know what they say.
As far as the coupon exceeding the purchase price, just tell them to price adjust to .99. The coupon is a Publix store coupon, so this may be YMMV according to the store interpretation of the coupon.

I emailed them earlier today, too. It'll be fun to see who gets an answer first, and whether or not they say the same thing.

I checked out a package of the HF pepperoni in the store tonight. It doesn't have the words "smoked sausage" anywhere on it. I really don't think this is what they intended when that coupon was printed at all. Guess we wait & see though!

What does the Winter Savings booklet look like? Not the yellow advantage flyer or the green one, right? A different one? Thanks!
