No changes here today in Savannah, GA. Still as coupon friendly as always.
I googled and found the information out on Wikipedia. It's good to learn new things! TY.
I also should be thanking all the peeps who always shop without coupons. Today a couple just finishing up when I got in line. Their total was $218 and it all fit in one cart. :shrug7:
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A slotting fee, slotting allowance[1], pay-to-stay, or fixed trade spending[2] is a fee charged to produce companies or manufacturers by supermarket distributors (retailers) in order to have their product placed on their shelves.[3] The fee varies greatly depending on the product, manufacturer, and market conditions. For a new product, the initial slotting fee may be approximately $25,000 per item in a regional cluster of stores, but may be as high as $250,000 in high-demand markets.[4]
In addition to slotting fees, retailers may also charge promotional, advertising and stocking fees. According to an FTC study, the practice is "widespread" in the supermarket industry.[citation needed] Many grocers earn more profit from agreeing to carry a manufacturer's product than they do from actually selling the product to retail consumers. According to retailers, fees serve to efficiently allocate scarce retail shelf space, help balance the risk of new product failure between manufacturers and retailers, help manufacturers signal private information about potential success of new products, and serve to widen retail distribution for manufacturers by mitigating retail competition.[citation needed] Vendors charge that slotting fees are a move by the grocery industry to profit at their suppliers' expense.[citation needed]

I know I have brought in quite a few shoppers to Publix that were previously shopping at Kroger and Food Lion. And that is the point.

Also, don't forget about things like SLOTTING FEES. (If you don't know what this is- go hit google). Stores make more money in other ways than just selling products.

Trust me, Publix is doing just fine and can afford to take our coupons.

You can still use a manufacturer coupon per item purchased.
They ARE accepting printable coupons.
BOGO limits are 3 deals per customer or 6 items.
BOGO Rainchecks will also be written for a max of 3 deals
Rainchecks for 10/$10 items will be a limit of 20.
They are only accepting traditional grocery store coupons as competitors --Kroger, Ingles, Food Lion, etc..

I just called the Carrollton store and was told the same as above with the exception being that they will NO LONGER take our Target coupons.
Guess, I will have to start using those AT Target!

Great relief though.
I was really stressing about having to find a better place to shop than Publix! There ain't no place better!! :shrug7:

I just got back from my Publix in Roswell, GA. I spoke at length with the manager, who confirmed that corporate had told them to become even more coupon friendly. When asked about CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens, he confirmed that those ARE considered competitor coupons, because "they sell groceries just like we do." The only limitation to those Qs are that they cannot have the word "pharmacy" on the coupon. When asked about limits, he replied that were none. Don't know if every store will do this, but for his store that was the case. I just knew Publix would come through!

You guys would be apalled at the way some people shop :P It's very hard for me to watch sometimes, lol. Sometimes they will only have 1 item that is BOGO and when I tell them it's bogo and ask them if they want the other, they say no. I offer to send someone to get it, nope. They simply don't want it. I'd say about 1 in 4 customers use some coupons and 1 in 25 use "a lot" of coupons.

WOW I really feel bad for those of you who are having to deal with this.

As a Publix employee, my store in Hendersonville, TN has cracked down alot on coupon users as well.

Some are coming in clearing the shelves with not 3-4, but 10-20 of each item, leaving us writing rain checks 90% of our shift! lol.

They have let office staff and cashiers know that we have to suppress doubles on most printable coupons as the coupon states. but so far (thanks Jesus) as I am a DEDICATED coupon user for not only myself but for my regular customers, they have not limited us to so many per day.

Other than that, nothing has changed.

However, several months ago, our store stopped taking Target, Whole Foods, Walgreens, Dollar General Market ect. Only local competitors as Krogers, FoodLion and HGHills. Which stinks! But got to play by the rules.

When I first started using coupons at Publix, about 2 yrs ago, the store manager told me they would not accept WG's, CVS and RA coupons, but when I called today the service desk confirmed that some people had been using them until today.
They will no longer allow any use of Pharmacy coupons at the Carrollton GA store.

That's ok with me....as long as I can still bring my man q into the store and use as many of them as I want.

Another way Publix makes money is the Apron Meals. I was chatting with my super friendly Apron chef recently and she said it costs a minimum of $10k to have a product placed in an Apron recipe.

I forgot to add in my previous post that my manager said that they will take expired coupons 1 week out. The example he used was that if a q expired on 11/20, they would accept it through 11/27. I have a really great store and truly appreciate their coupon friendly stance. All you gotta do is play by the rules!
