Default Re: DND5 ==> Bonus Coupon Suppressed

Seems like this dnd attention might be happening across the board.

I don't shop at publix(none here) but 2 of our local chain stores Acme and shoprite ...have been paying alot more attention to the DND's than before.

the cashiers are staring at the coupons and they didn't do that before. They are stopping a coupon from doubling if it doubles anyway they fix it.

Wierd.

Yeah, I am noticing it in the "new posts" all the way across the board.
Like with us it's about dnd's and new policies on doubling.
Maybe all the grocery stores got together at one of those retreat thingies and banded to all do the same on dnd's.

After the initial outrage and panic - I think I will be ok on dnd's. Our inserts for the most part don't say that. I see dnd on the blinkies and the ip's and store sponsored booklets.
Since I have just been able to print smart source again....I can adjust to that.
Blinkies were mostly for higher amounts that my store can't double anyway.

The only winner I see from this dnd stuff is the usps for snail mail trades on insert coupons.

Still when I have a choice of 3 stores that I will get a freebie at from my plain 5 barcode coupon....I know where I will chose to shop. The dnd has really ticked me off and the way Publix handled it surprised me.

As of last night - not one stinking sign about the new dnd policy.
I think If I was a publix cashier I would have a sign handing from my name badge that says .......ask me about coupon policy changes.

So far I have only had this happen to me once and it was a long time ago, but I was thinking about this as I was checking prices at Target on some of their items... It makes no sense for Publix to take competitor coupons from stores that DND yet suppress DND coupons. The very reason that Publix doubles is to gain our business from those stores. From the manufacturer end, why create a situation that would possibly cause your customer to buy a DIFFERENT brand. If I am put in this situation, my shopping strategy will change and I see 2 losers in that strategy.

I was at the Bessemer/McCalla Publix last night and I had some DND coupons and they still doubled. I casually mentioned to the cashier that I heard that they were going to stop doubling some coupons and her reply way "if we aren't we haven't heard anything about it".

You make a really good point. Maybe those who have the time could start posting/emailing comments to the manufacutres who put out a lot of DND coupons. If they receive enough complaints maybe they will make a change to their coupons. As we all know the double is paid by the store as an incentive to get us in the door. The manuf. is not liable for that amount so why put the DND on the coupon to start with.

I know I checked with my Publix a few weeks ago about this. I had 2 versions of a particular coupon one was DND. I asked the manager if they still double these. She said if it states DND they will not. This was maybe in September. Now I watch that more closely and use those at Bi-Lo.

Yes all I am seeing if this at certain stores, ones who have taken thier coupon booklets and stashed them at the Customer Service counter. I wonder why lame brain in corporate thought this one up? Gee lets stop doubling DND coupons because we aren't getting paid for those coupons since they state DND. How much money are they going to lose now??? I think they are going to see a dramatic loss of profits across the board if they stop doubling coupons. Other stores are there that allow them to go through and thus will see a rise in thier profits. I hope this doesn't last. It alway seems to be the one making the rules is the one who doesn't get out in the real world to see if those rules would truly benifit the store.

this is my plan - I will get the items, if the cashier suppresses the double, I'll have her remove the items. I will go to another store and use it. I will go home and email cs on the website and tell them I went somewhere else and had it doubled. I will email cs of the manu and complain about the wording. Every time.

I think this is because coupon clippers (ie, sellers of Qs) had multiple HUNDREDS of copies of the Publix booklet "Smart Summer Savings" and actual Publix shoppers couldn't find the booklets (why pay for them when you should get them for free as a Publix customer?). When the mail in rebate for the Breast Cancer Awareness was out, I couldn't find them in the stores, but the coupon clippers had them (and yes, I know that the form was available in more than just publix stores and thankfully, a kind couponer RAOK'd me the form) and last, the Winter Savings Books are out, and again, the coupon clippers have quite a tidy sum of them, making money by taking the freebies from the store.

I personally would rather see these at customer service, than have folks steal the entire displays worth of Qs in one fell swoop.

One more thing that would be helpful regarding the DND5 is for Printable Qs to state BEFORE printing whether it is a DND5 Q or not. My office mate only had printables when he made his purchase I referred to in the OP.

Yes I have seen this and actually like that the booklets are at the CS counter but I was stating that I have only had the DND surpressed at these stores so I am thinking it has something to do with mgmt or higher percentage of coupon users... :shrug7:
