HOT Do Rainchecks expire at Publix? I was told 10 days! UPDATE: Yes They Do!

Went to my normal Publix today with a RC for Vally fresh steamers. Had a 50% off RC for 12 bags from 2/09 and coupons to go with them for $.50/1 making them $.50 per bag. Good deal for me. Here's what happened:

I hand her my raincheck for Steam Fresh veggies (dated in fed of this year). She rolls her eyes and complains to the young man right in front of me! She says this raincheck is no good. I ask why and she says it is expired. I tell her it is my understanding they don't expire. She leaves to check with someone else (mind you there is a woman and a screaming baby in line behind me). She returns to say raincheck expire in 10days and she will only honor it for 6 veggies not the 12 it was written for. I choose which veggies I want to keep and pay for my purchase. Now being a former business owner I understand policy changes, and if this is the case and RC's now expire in 10 days, it would have been polite of her to accpet my RC and inform me of the policy change.

Is this true, am I wrong? Gosh, I was so fed up. Wanted more veggies! And am now thinking of my stack of RC's that might not be good anymore....

UPDATE: 9/25 2:34pm
Ok the manager of this particular store called me and said:"Blah Blah Blah we are sorry we didn't follow procedure, we are sorry the woman was so rude to you, we are sorry the email we sent back to you answered none of your questions AND beginning Oct 1 all RC's will have a 30day expiration date printed on them for all stores (many people are reporting their's already do). He said they tried 10days but were slammed with calls that this wasn't enough time for people to get back to the store or in many cases for the store to even get more of 'x' item. So now 30 days expiration date." I asked about old Rc's with no printed date, how long will they accept those, he will be checking. Oh, and I get my 6 other veggies at $1.00 a bag ($.50 with coupons) And if you happen to shop here, yes they allow overages, so long as you do not end up with a negaive number

I'm in GA not Florida so I suppose there could be a difference. My Publix RC's DO NOTE HAVE AN EXP. DATE ON THEM. As long as I use it at the store that wrote it I've never had a problem using an "old" one. I'm rude and crude and she would have honored my 12 veggies or "paid the price" so to speak. I don't deal well with people that think being on the other side of that counter somehow gives them power. Gimme a MGR and show me where the expiration date is!

My understanding has always been that rc's don't expire, but it doesn't specifically say that on the actual rc's. I've never had a problem redeeming them, even months after they are written. Did you ask to speak to a manager or speak to anyone in CS about what you were told?

If I am not mistaken, Publix rain checks used to say "No Expiration". I noticed a few months ago that the form has changed slightly and it doesn't say that anymore.

My Publix has the ten day rule, too, but they write it on the raincheck. They emphatically state the ten day rule when they write it. I can feel the inward eyeroll as they repeat "ten days... from today... starting now... that's it... that's all you get... ten days."

I've never heard that but all the local Publix around here are limiting to 4 of any item on a RC. 10 days is insane. I got a RC for the Dannon yogurt and went back 7 days later and the shelf was still empty. Hoping to have some luck today, now 14 days from when RC was issued.

While I wouldn't want it, I would certainly understand if they did implement an expiration on RCs but 10 days is too short in my opinion. I shop at Kroger too and their RCs I think are 30 days.

I'm sure the days of no expiration date RCs are numbered, especially since they removed the verbiage which read "No expiration date" on the RC form.

I did write to the corporate office last night, hopefully they will give me a positive answer on when they expire. I did in fact go seek out a manager after I was done checking out and was told she was "A" manager but no the "only" manager and no one else was available at the moment to speak to me. Her picture was at the CS desk along with maybe 5 others from various departments. I am angry about my veggies. My hubby won't eat the canned kind and the bags rarely go on a good sale (my RC was for 50% off). Fingers crossed they tell me I can come in and get the rest

I have a raincheck from the dannon light and fit. There is a handwrittem message on the bottom that says expires in 30 days. So it must depend on the store!
