    Default So frustrated with Publix

So I went Publix yesterday and had a terrible time. This store used to be my fav but we got a new manager about a year ago and things have really gone downhill.
My daughter had some minor dental surgery and on the way home I stopped to get her some yogurt and a few other rhings. I had some CG q's and pert q's left and wanted to use them before the publix q's expire. So had 4 CG nail polish and 2 mens pert. Nothing excessive.
Get in the line and give my q's and the cashier says "you can't use all these". I had a pubs'q and a man q for each item. The bagger says "I think she can this lady shops in here all the time and really knows about q's". Cashier says no it's too many 1 per purchase blah blah blah. Asks bagger to get someone from CS. Line there is so long so I tell her to void the items off. She REFUSES!!! Says I will just take off the man q's and that is a good deal!!!! Sweet bagger is trying to get someone to help us from CS but I want to get out of there as my daughter is tired. She won't void it so I am stuck.
Finally someone from CS comes over and she says yes she can use these and the cashier says no it's too many and starts to void the items!!!! I am soooo mad and I say "so you are going to argue with your own CS person and finally do what I asked you to 5 minutes ago because you did not get the answer you wanted". She throws my q's and my receipt back at me.
CS says let me get the SM but I want to get out of there and say no. Sweet bagger helps me to the car and is mortified. She takes my cell# and gets me the # for the DM who is also mortified and tells me to call him from the line the next time something like this happens.
Well I lost out on these deals and really don't want to shop at this store anymore even though it is 2 minutes from my house.
Sorry so long but ARGGGGG frustrating.

Wow, what an awful experience! I'm just glad it was the cashier and not CS who was giving you a hard time.

I hope you got a rogue cashier. Sounds like everyone else was on your side. Good luck, OP.

It sounds to me the bagger should become a cashier and the cashier needs to become a bagger to me. I noticed lately at my usual store the baggers know more about the store coupon policy than the cashiers. It just doesn't make sense to me. I am sorry your experience was so bad. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

That is so fustrating especially with a child that needs to get home asap!
I felt the same way about two different stores close by me after bad experiences using qs. It makes you not want to go back in them.

Girl you know you were right, go back in there with your receipt and coupons and get CS to give you a refund on the coupons that the cashier wouldn't take! They should happily do it, if not call the DM as I am sure he would have no problem with it! I had problems with a cashier and the $2 A-1 coupons, after I shot a email to corp. the SM called me and told me to bring in the coupons and they gave me the $$$ for them! Don't let this get you down!

A comment on Publix.com WITH the name of the cashier will bring attention to a poor (snotty) cashier. It does help, as my hateful cashier no longer works at my Publix store.

You were using coupons correctly, you were right, don't let one bad apple keep you from the deals! Don't let anyone or anything keep you from the deals!

What startles me is not so much that she was giving you flak about using the coupons, but the attitude you are relaying she used, not only towards you, but towards her own co-workers. I hope she was just having a really bad day, but if that's her regular attitude, it needs to be dealt with.

I would definitely write corporate and name names. I recently had a similar experience where the cashier refused to accept my coupons and customer service told her it was fine and she refused....she literally walked away from the register and customer service agent rang me up. Then when my transaction was complete she came back and said "I'll ring up the paying customers". I was nice up to that point but her remark was the straw that broke this camel's back and I wrote a very stern letter to corporate and the store manager. I got called by the store manager several days later (he was on vacation) and he apologized profusely. The customer service agent who ended up ringing me up told me she's fired with the next complaint (mine wasn't the first one).....so I check out with that same cashier every time....just waiting for her to be rude again.

That said, I find it very rare that anyone at Publix is rude. The typical experience is that they are very polite and very professional. On occasion I shop at Kroger and see where all those who didn't make the cut at Publix work.
