Thumbs Down IP Fraud at local Publix

I've made several calls today to surrounding Publix here in St. Petersburg, Florida, inquiring about their coupon policies & IPs. The location at US 19 & 54th Ave. So. have had a recent rash of bad IPs to include:

Bounty Paper Towels
Purina Dog Chow
Pampers
Jeanie o turkey (sp?)
Reynolds Foil
Fancy Feast Cat Food
Velveta Cheese

The coupons did not beep. According to the Customer Service, the
consumer(s) were not aware these were frauds. The coupon values were "quite a bit higher" than you would normally see.

This Publix will still accept IPs but suggested bringing in the entire sheet of paper rather than clipping ahead of time. They do not take IPs for free items.

I always hate it when these things happen. I personally lean to the literal side of life and take pride in getting a great deal, the honest way. If I ever passed a bad IP,unknowlingly, I would return the stores money in a heart beat. I have even thought of "rubber stamping" my info. on the back of IP coupons just in case.

Publix gets a thumbs up in my book for taking IPs. Hopefully, they will continue to do so.

A common misconception is that the registers have a way of knowing the coupons are fraudulent.

There will always be fraud and this is why things become so difficult for the honest customers :( The last time I checked my Publix has not had any issues with IP's.
I'm going today with a bunch of IP's and hope I have no problems. I dont have any of the IP coupons mentioned by OP though.

It's funny this thread just started, someone forwarded to my sister two coupons, one for free velveeta, and one for free reynolds wrap. She in turn forwarded it to me (without looking at the attachement)

Well I open the attachment and it is a photocopy of the "coupon" both of which have expiration dates, and they just looked funny. I emailed her back and asked where these came from (thinking she found a link or something). She said at this point someone had emailed them to her. I asked if they were using the coupons, where were they being used, and how LONG ago had they been used. Then it turns out the woman who emailed them, got them from her sister from Ohio. I told my sister to get rid of the attachment these were bad coupons....

There has been a string of bad internet coupons, and I hope in the long run it doesn't effect the quality coupons. And before everyone cries mouse, the coupons were claimed fraudulent by the vendors themselves.

It is ALL over the region. I'm in Melbourne and my Publix started cracking down on all coupons. They are all REALLY analyzing them - it's kind of uncomfortable, though they do try to be nice about it. I talked to my local manager and she showed me the paperwork coming out of corporate. There is a reward of $2,500 out for anyone passing these coupons off. I had someone forward the Reynolds foil one to me and I knew it was fake, so I deleted it. But I never told my friend. Now I have!

When I used some IPs last week, the girl said "we cannot take them if they don't have print on both sides"; I said "How do you print them out on both sides, if they are printed from the internet"? She said they were cracking down but the manager said they were okay... still amazed at how to print on both sides??

Most internet printables are not printed on both sides, I think the cashier was confused.

Please take a look at the It's Got To Be Real forum for a current list of counterfiet coupons that are circulating:

http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/its-got-real/

You can research your internet coupons to be sure they are legitimate, and if they are printed from links here at HCW, rest assured that they are being researched and scrutinized in order to be allowed/approved in the HCW database.

Hats off to Youpdwhat for doing such a wonderful job at researching these and keeping us informed!!
