Default New Rule at Publix?? *UPDATED*

In my trip tonight I tried to use the $4 pace IP I had won from their game. My newbie cashier (who had already freaked out about BOGO razor coupons) had to go talk to customer service. The CS lady comes over and tells me Publix doesn't accept any IP's over $2. I just had them take the salsa off. Is this some rule I don't know of or do I get to call Corporate customer service tomorrow?

It had to happen on one of the rare trips when DH is with me...

UPDATE: I emailed CS as everyone had suggested and never heard back. Today I received a call from the store manager apologizing for the confusion that they take IP's up to $5 unless they dont scan. Once I let her know they didn't even try to scan it she became much nicer. I'm headed in tonight and the asst mgr is supposed to make sure it all works out fine. A gift card is supposed to be waiting for all my trouble. YAY! I really appreciate it since I don't have a Publix in my town and drive past several other grocery stores to get to Publix.

I had the same problem at kroger the other day MORONS are making copies of IP's and making it hard for the honest.I am getting disgusted with people who think all couponers are trying to cheat the system. It really makes me upset,Usually I don't care about this stuff but latley it's out of hand. There is a particular Wags I go to shop you would think I have actually robbed and beaten someone in that store the way I am treated but I just put on my best Tuff Stuff do my deals.OOPs I digress(had a flash back)Sorry for thread jacking.I think it's because all the coupon fraud going on.:smile77:

My understanding is that Publix takes all ip's under $5, and will take higher but may require manager approval for those over $5. I would call corporate and ask.

I've asked Publix corporate customer service before about their printable coupon policy, and this was what they told me (email response dated 1/14/09) so, unless their policy has changed in the last few months, I think they should've taken your coupon. HTH

    Good day,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding printable internet coupons. Publix does not have an overall written coupon policy, but we do adhere to the rules that manufacturers print on their coupons. When it comes to printable internet coupons we certainly do accept them. If the coupon is over $5 in value then it would need to be approved by a member of our front end staff.

If you have any problems using these coupons in the future I would encourage you to ask to speak to a member of management, who should be able to address the issue. Your email did not specify a store, or I would contact them to follow up.

If I can be of further assistance, please let me know and thank you for shopping at Publix.

Thanks for the help. I do agree that it's probably in part due to fraud. I think they were also just mad that the Pace was only $2.79 and the coupon was for $4. I emailed customer service. We will see...

My store won't take IP's over $1 due to fraud. It is unfortunate, but I still get some good deals in spite of it!

I think some managers have different rules. I had a cashier once deny me a coupon because it was $2 off and I was using it for a BOGO sale so I gave her 2 coupons ...She called a head cashier and was told that they accept any coupons as long as it's not expired,it's being used for the right product. She said that "used to be " the policy at the Publix she used to work at many yrs.

If its an actual news paper insert MFQ for $4 off then I'm 99.9% sure they should take it. My publix accepts IP. Some cashiers just check the ID number to make sure they are all different and not copied. I totally agree with the comment above about fraudelant coupon use. It makes me angry honestly. They make it hard for honest people.

For you this may be YMMV so if you can go to a different more CouponFriendly Publix or dont go to that cashier again .

I thought they took printables as long as they weren't for "FREE xyz item". I had no trouble with the $3 & $5 Huggies either.

But I will be stocking up on Pace this week (I have entered 3 codes this week & won 2 more coupons!)

I want to get some Kashi too! The pockets are $1.60 this week and there $1.50 tearpad coupon. The the meals are just under $2 and the same tearpad has $2 off meals. These are ONE PER VISIT so I anticipate lots of short visits this week ~ 2 salsa, 2 Kashi, 1 $2 bag of chips for under $1!

Lilglobetrotter is correct... I too had this problem a few weeks ago and Corp told me the same thing. The manager called me personally to apologize and sent me a $15 GC for my trouble!

So can we fight the "$1.00 off printable max" policy at our local store?? Ours won't take anything over $1.00 and I totally miss out on good deals.
