QUESTION Is Adjusting a MQ allowed by the store?

At my Publix, several of us have been having GREAT difficulty with Publix adjusting our Manufacturer Coupons to the shelf price. Is this allowed? I really thought this was considered coupon fraud because the Manufacturer is paying the store for the face value of the coupon. I am desperate for some help. Thanks in advance.

They are not supposed to physically alter the coupon, like by crossing out the amount. I have seen stores do this.
It is their prerogative to give you only up to the purchase price, in fact that is what the cashiers are supposed to do according to their training. If they want to adjust the coupon, they have to manually key in the coupon as a vendor coupon at the amount they intend to deduct. Yes, they will get the full face value in redemption, but it insn't fraud, it's profit.
Since Publix is generally very customer service oriented, you will find that most of the time the cashiers will put the mfrs through for the full face value. Some stores are sticklers and will adjust a coupon for a penny over, it depends on the management.

This is something that continues to be a thorn in my side. It really disgusts me when cashiers adjust the coupon down. I consider them doing this as fraud. I guess it's not really considered fraud, but I see it that way. They get back the full value of it and it really irks me. In my opinion it is dishonest.

Hmm I ran into this when I bought the Good Life cat food last week. The cashier adjusted the coupon down b/c otherwise I would've had overage. Luckily, I only got 3 and got a r/c for 8 more so I'll pick a different cashier!

Many coupons state "cannot exceed purchase price". This is an extremely gray area. I have dealt with the buyers before and some of the manufacturers have directed us to give the customer the extra penny. Honestly, I think some people are nit picking. Publix isn't trying to rip you off, we are trying to play by the rules and it is a hard game.

The only coupons that normally have this verbiage are the Publix store coupons. It would be very rare to see that on a manufacturer's coupon.

Yep- this bugs me to death. I was at Publix yesterday and the cashier had some questions about "marking a coupon down" so the manager came over and helped.
Well, on my second transaction, he needed her help again (he's visually impaired, but super nice), but she was nowhere to be found. The other manager came over and said, just scan it for regular price, when he said it's over the amount- she said, "that's ok, we'll get it back, I'll explain later" and then winked at me. !!
Which manager am I going to look for next time?? Guess.
