My Publix only doubles q's up to and including .50. Does your double higher than that?

I can't see Publix getting reimbursed for doubling a coupon.

In search of a new sig. Any suggestions?
I wish that I would have bookmarked the page that mentioned how the redemption house works the deal with the manufacturer. It was an excellent article. I did a quick search but could not find it. But still, reading tid-bits from here and there about coupon handling and relating it to the business world in general...
I always held the belief that the store ate the extra on the doubling, but now I believe that there are two scenerios. How manufacturers deal with mom and pop grocery stores and how manufacturers deal with major food store chains. There's a difference in buying power and brand exposure between the two.
Both a Publix and a Kroger manager has told me that the manufacturer pays the double coupon. They are "major players".
If every store/chain pays the extra out of pocket, this is a a very good question.

I've only been doing this couponing thing for about a year now, (You all hooked me and are absolutely fantastic) but it seems that many of the coupons I've seen in the past for .50 cents are now .55 cents, which do not double in my area stores. Can't recall them off hand, maybe some of you seasoned verterans have noticed the same?

HI Everyone, OP here...
I got a reply to my letter, an email from the district manager.
Yes the coupons should have been doubled and the overage applied to my bill, which is actually more than I wanted, I just wanted the item free.
He CC'd the store manager so I am going to go today and try to use my coupons.
Like most of us do, I am printing the email and keeping it in my binder.

Excellent! That's because Publix DOES get reimbursed by the manufacturer for the value of the coupon PLUS the doubling if it applies. Manufacturers do not want Publix to profit off their coupons, they want to offer you the savings as an enticement to buy their products. If Publix redeems a coupon, and is paid by the manufacturer for any more money than you recieved, that's fraud.
Publix is running a buy theirs and try ours free promotion. Why? Because their brand is cheaper and more profitible. If your family likes the quality of the Publix brand, the manufacturer has lost you as a buyer. Hence the coupon.
Most manufacturers will have an agreement with publix to reimburse the double. How publix negotiates with manufacturers is probably more info than anyone here cares to know about, but know that Publix won't loose money on an item. HTH
I'll tell what I do know if anyone wants....
