Today at Publix, I saw several items that had **Clearance** shelf tags. However, none of the items had a clearance price on them. They were the same price as all the similar items (same thing, different flavor, etc.). I asked one of the employees and he said that's how they're doing it now. They tag it **Clearance** and if it still doesn't sell, then they'll start marking it down.

Yes they do this at the store I work at. It is basically stuff that we are not going to order anymore of. It got me too. They really never mark it down to tell you the truth. We take it off of the regular shelf to make room for a new item. The manager says " It is just to let people know that the item is going to be gone in case it is their fave item" SURE! LOL I cannot tell you how many people have brought me the same bottle of hair spray just to have me void it cause it was $14.00. Some clerance lol.

Another unusual item I've never seen on clearance before at a grocery store - Hanes underwear for women . Mine had packages of 3 for $ 2.50 and there is a .50 coupon in 3/16 redplum for them .
Found the huge plastic jugs of Maxwell House coffee on clearance for $3 last night. Great buy @ that price but I had the $1/1 coupons with me. I picked up 17 of them (lots of friends/family use that brand) and when my friend went first thing this morning they were back up to almost $10.
