Publix: Rain check for kraft mac and cheese cracker??????

I used my very first rain check today for the kraft mac and cheese crackers. The lady that rung me up scanned the first box but did not scan the second and just gave it to me for free. The problem was I could not use the coupon bogo that I had. Is this the way they are supposed to ring up rain checks or did she just not know what she was doing?

No this isn't the way they are supposed to ring up rain checks, but from my experience every cashier does it differently. There is a specific way to do it, but most cashiers don't know how.

That is definitely not how they are supposed to do it. It doesn't surprise me that they did that because many of the cashiers are unsure how to ring up raincheck items.

They've done this many times at my store too. After awhile, I started telling the person how to do it correctly. When they doubted me, I just said okay, if you do it your way, you'll need a manager override when you start scanning my coupons which will just hold your line up even more. That usually gets them to listen and do it the correct way which then prevents the inventory from getting messed up and then the people behind me don't huff and puff to the point where they have a heart attack because they're waiting, etc.

I was told by my fave cashier (and then confirmed with front end supervisors and the store manager) that at my store at least, they are supposed to price check the first item and then price modify them all to "2 for $x.xx" I have had cashiers ring up 1 and then modify the second to 0 which also works.
