Re: What makes good filler at Publix? I love to use fillers that I will actually use in a healthy way - at first I used to grab some candy at the cash register or just something, but my son has a serious sugar high/low problem and really became a bit unruly and hard to manage with all the candy in the home - so I have been looking for other fillers for the last 2 months or so.
At CVS I've started getting one or two single rolls of TP each time I shop - I haven't checked if Publix carries them as well - but will try to remember the next time. I really like the fruit idea [someone mentioned buying indidual tomatoes or peppers somewhere/somewhen here] - so fruit works well for me. And we are trying to eat healthier and if there is more variety to choose from, it actually gets eaten before it turns to mush in the fruit bowl. While I wouldn't want to push my luck with a single grape - I have no problem to take a prepackaged bundle and split it into 2 or 3 individual bags. Another thing from the produce section are bundles of green and regular single onions, baking or sweet potatoes, a cucumber or pepper for a salad etc.
Another thing that would work well is single yoghurts - as you are usually required to buy 4 or 6 [or more] to make a coupon work, that frees all but one of them to be used as extra attachments for the Publix coupons.
Individual cheese snacks [ala Target] would also work well, if they carry them...
