Default Meat Stock up Deals?

I have been shopping with coupons for about 6 weeks. I have saved a ton and my cabinets are full of side dishes, pasta, veggies etc. But can not seem to know what is a good deal on meat. My DH is a meat and potatos kind of guy so I have to have meat with every meal.

Will you please share your suggestions on stocking up on meat? Do you have a "Buy It" Price? Look for mark downs? What is your meat shopping plan?

Thank you!

Kay

The beauty of getting your sides/veggies/snacks for cheap or free is that you have more money available in your budget for meat, produce, and essentials. I'm sure we all have our stock up price for meat. What's a good price for you all depends on your area and available stores. I look for stores to run loss leader sales, and find meat wine tags. Also, Super Targets often have steak coupons available on their website - there's one there now. My stock up prices are as follows (per lb):

Ground beef - $1
boneless skinless chicken $1.88
Pork products $1
chicken parts .59
steak $2

I scout out deals. Sometimes its cheaper and more convienent to buy packages in bulk from Sams or Costco, sometimes not. Albertsons very often has q's for buy 1 get 2 free on various packages of meat (which, FYI, your Publix may honor if they take cometitors q's). Also, Winn Dixie does BOGO's on meat every week. Also, like Maceala25 mentioned, the Super Target website lots of times has $2 off certain packages of steak/ roast q's, and you can find packages in the $3-$4 price range.

Thank you for all of your answers. I have also been wondering when I was going to be buying meat. I have plenty of chicken, but not a single other type of meat. For us meateaters, we were craving some good knowledge on how to buy it!

The ST q for the Archer Farms ham can be used on the small ham steaks making them under $1. Got 3 last week and used one for a ham & broccoli casserole just last night.

My stock up prices are similar to Macaela's.

I use Albertsons B2G1 Q's at publix, shop Albertsons discounted meat (day before stuff) and BJ's day before meats. BJ's is the best, they mark it 50% off...I've gotten lots of good stuff there.

Do you have a local meat market around? I tend to stock up on my meats at the meat market where I can get it cheaper. Also, when Publix runs sales I tend to stock those items.

I am wishing I had an Albertson's around here. I will continue to be on the lookout for sales and such at Publix. Have any of you had success with Publix taking the Target/Archer farms coupons? For some reason my target never seems to have a large meat selection.

I buy mine at Sams and just have them cut it. I had them cut one of the pork loin into 3 types, stew, stir fry and chops, it is lasting us for a long time! When I get home from the store I freeze it in 2 serving size portions.
