Re: Meat Stock up Deals? In additional to buying chicken thighs (.59/lb....look for the boneless skinless too) or whole chicken (.79/lb), I also buy the bone-in chicken breasts. Once a month my Ingles has them for .98/lb (I'm sure other stores have similar deals) so I stock up then. They take a little longer to cook if you leave the bone in, but you can also skin and debone them yourself.
Also, Walmart has Jenny-O turkey ham for about $2/lb. It comes in sort of a "block" (don't know how else to describe it!). It's precooked, and is really cook sliced and glazed, or even cubed in a casserole (my boys particularly like my homemade macaroni and cheese with broccoli and cubed ham in it).
Also....if you know a hunter, you might be able to get venison or other meat for free (or cheap). My dad hunts, and we have a good supply of frozen venison year-round. Free, organic, very lean.....and delicious!
Some tips from one meat-eating family to another!
