Default Help me wrap my brain around how to work a BOGO deal with Q's

Ok people talk about using BOGO coupons with a BOGO sale and getting items freee.

How does this work?

An example is this weeks Uncle Ben's rice BOGO sale with the printable BOGO Q's.

How is it free? How many do I put in my cart? I just can not seem to wrap my brain around this one. :shrug7:

Basically you are using your coupon to 'pay' for the one you have to buy to get the bogo store promotion.

Put two in your cart. At the checkout,

They scan both. The store sale takes off the cost of one.

Then when they hit total, your coupon takes off the cost of the other one.

Now here's the tricky part.

Your bogo coupon is an IP, which may draw attention to yourself. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, but if so, you explain that the coupon is a method of payment, and you are 'paying' for the one you have to buy to get the Publix sale price.

ok how does this work when each item rings up 50% off?
Say an item is regular $4 and are BOGO and ring up $2 each. You have a BOGO coupon do you get $4 or $2 off??

Sometimes I'm not sure about this. I try to be helpful and write the price on the coupon for the cashier to key. This way they don't have to ask "did you get these?" and dig through the sale to find the prince. I don't want to short change myself either you know.

If each item rings up 50% off, you will most likely end up paying for the other 50%. Unless you are brave enough to discuss with the cashier that the store is having a bogo sale, and you are using a bogo coupon to pay for the one you have to buy, therefore you should get the full amount off.

I've done that before and it usually works, but you really have to understand what you're doing and be able to explain it in detail to the cashier and manager. As long as you can do that, you should be ok.

Whenever I have used a bogo coupon at my store during a bogo sale I have only gotten half off. My store rings 50%. I tried to talk to the cashier about it that technically I don't get anything free then but she said she can't take off more than you paid for the 1 and at my store that is 50%. Good luck.

I *think* the rice mix is about 1.69 to 1.99. I am not 100% sure though.

I guess this is one of those ymmv situations.

Every once in a while you'll get a cashier who won't accept an internet BOGO coupon...Publix policy is to not accept any IPs for free items, though (1) you're technically still making a purchase with this one and (2) not all of the cashiers follow the "no free IPs" to a tee.

I don't usually have the problem unless I happen upon a register run by a coupon inspector...you know, the ones who read the coupon line for line, and stare at you between swipes?

Figured it was worth a forewarning, in case you get the picky one that says, "sorry, no go on the BOGO."

Otherwise you use one BOGO coupon for every two items.

on BOGO I can use two coupons right??? One for each items? That is what I have been doing this whole time with no problems. Especially yesterday with the Post Cereals. It was BOGO and I had 2 coupons for .55/1, so I used two coupons saved $1.10 on two items, technically saved $1.10 off the ONE item I had to pay for. This is ok to do it this way right???

Yes, you can use two mfrs for the two items since a bogo is the purchase of two items.
