Default North Alabama Can-A-Thon

Every year I donate heavily to Can-A-Thon in Huntsville. The food donated goes to the local food bank. I've already started on my loot to donate thanks to good sales at Krogers, Harris Teeter triples, and Publix.

This year I'm limiting myself to a $20 donation, S T R E T C H E D by coupons. I've already got Glory Vegetables for 19 cents a can(HT Triples), BC Pouch potatoes for free(HT Triples), Success Rice for 29 cents a box and free frosting and cheap cake mix (publix), Celestial Seasonings tea for free and Carnation Milk for free (krogers mega sale)... anyway, ya'll get the picture. Remember that I recycle bin dive, so I normally HAVE the coupons, I just need the deals.

I know I'm doing the Martha White muffin deal (for 25 cents for 8 muffin mixes, how can you pass it up), I also have squirreled away several coupons for Ronzoni smart taste (hoping that it will go below a buck before can-a-thon) but what ELSE should I focus my radar on. You can't donate perishable items and they can't be in glass jars, so ragu, bertolli, and pickles are out.

Think CHEAP and north alabama coupons (we didn't get the nestle morsel coupons, we didn't get the Duncan Hines cake mix coupon... I think the retailers think we don't bake). Help me help others, but remember it has to be people food (not diapers, not wipes, not dog or cat food).

Thanks in Advance.

Can-A-Thon is set for December 4th for North Alabama.

I'm gonna be V E R Y disappointed in my North Alabama Couponers if they aren't helping me on finding the deals to help others.

Thanksgiving Re: North Alabama Can-A-Thon

Sorry tn_native! I didn't see you post til just now. I participate in this as well, see-n's how I work at the main drop off location. I hope you were able to get some free jello at wags last week. I got about 40 boxes just for the can-a- thon. I also have a stock pile of muier glen & swanson's broth to donate.

If you have time to make it to publix before the end of this weeks ad, you can get cheap sugar (not 100% sure that it's donatable) and del monte tomatos using the FLIP posted on the first page of the thread. HWY 20 & 72 will take the FLIP.

I will keep my eyes open for great deals for you. I usually stick to publix & wags. If you find a good deal let me know and I can grab it too or send you the Q.

Hope you have a good turkey day!!

I didn't know about the Jello, so I don't have any of that. I boxed up the rice last night and I've got quite a few (both Zatarain's and Success). I also have 10+ pouch potatoes from Harris Teeter (HT) Triples thanks to the SIL and I swapping out on what she wants versus what I want.

I'm looking for FREE or CHEAP cheap, as I'm getting close to the $20 if I haven't already gone over it.

WOW!! That's great!!

My daughter was on the news for this yesterday (3 seconds!)

I've been trying to help our local food/clothes bank since I've been couponing and my kids schools student councils do Iron Bowl competitions that really motivate the kids to bug their parents about giving them cans to bring.

My son's middle school motivated their students by saying if Alabama (Crimson Tide) wins, the assistant principle will get a pie in the face; if Auburn wins, the principle gets a pie in the face; if the 'other' collection box wins, they both get it! Well, you can probably guess which box won! Even some teachers volunteered to get 'pied'!

I've been giving the free pudding from Wags, free potatoes, cheap cereal, $.15 fruit snacks, cheap veggies, sugar from publix, cond milk & sugar from kroger, & other stuff I can't remember!

The majority of my neighbors are at home all day, I don't know if I'm brave enough to go thru their recycle boxes, guess I need to get over it :)
