No, I don't know what the penny item is yet (although odds are good it will be something from the candy aisle ), but...

The carousel at a store in the N. Atlanta area had stacks of the "extra" Publix flyer with a Mystery Coupon on the front. This is not the usual 4-page BOGOs over-wrap that we get each Sunday — this is the 8-page one with Publix-brand items that we get occasionally.

The cover has a bottle of Publix Spring Water with a stopwatch in the background.

I don't think I've ever seen one of these extra flyers in a store prior to Sunday (when I get one in my paper). Does Publix normally put them out at the start of the sale week (and they're all snapped up before I see them)?

They usually have those type flyers on holiday weekends for some reason. This weekend is Columbus Day. They may do it b/c many people don't buy newspapers on holiday weekends b/c of the lack of coupons.

My stores usually have some left even on Monday.

Here in SC it's a 15 oz bag of Publix brand candy. I got candy corn. Many choices.

Same at a store in Roswell, GA (N. Atl.). Publix candy, 15oz (ETA: 8 to 20 oz) bag (assorted varieties, including star mints)

As always, YMMV. Look for the "Mystery Coupon" sign or display at your store, or ask any employee.

In the 10/12 Atlanta newspaper, the Mystery Coupon is in the "usual" place (4-page flyer — "Weekly Double Up" — listing BOGO items, wrapped around this week's 16–page flyer/insert).

As I posted earlier, the Sunday paper also had a separate 8–page flyer (listing some Publix brand items) with another Mystery Coupon on the cover page. You may find these in the carousel at stores (although they sometimes disappear fast).

Penny item here is Old El Paso Taco Dinner Kit. I did notice that the LU Code rung up as the Publix candy, though.

My penny item yesterday was candy but today was quaker oatmeal (3.79). I walked down the candy aisle and they still had plenty of candy. Probably better it was oatmeal though!

Fellow shopper :) I'm in Winder also. Publix had candy on Sunday, but yesterday when I wen they switched to the multrigrain.
