Default New Publix Grand Opening - Hixson, TN

My new Publix is opening Wed, October 8th. Is it worth being there at 7:00 when the doors open? Is it even worth going on Wed? I mean do the open one day and then have a grand opening another day?

I've been wondering if they were going to have an great grand opening deals. I'm so excited, now I'll be able to go to Publix regularly and not just when I happen to be on the other side of town anyway.

I got a $5.00 off purchase of $20.00 coupon in the mail only good at the Hixson store. It does not expire until the end of October, so hopefully they will be having specials all month like the Hurricane Creek store did!! Ooltewah store opens up in December!!
Thanks DonnaMac for the reminder that the store is opening on Oct. 8. I hope that some nice shared that information with you as well! teehee...

I also got the $5 off $30 dollars NOT $20 did I get cheated?

My best bud reminded me of 10/8 and I emailed them to confirm since it has already been delayed.

I am wondering should I hold the $5 off or go on opening day! I have alloted time for the whole day. I am just wondering if the deals get better!

If this triggers triples at Bi-Lo again I will be exhausted but worth it!

If you have never been to a grand opening of a Publix it is definately worth it. You'll see a lot, get some great deals, and when the doors open it is considered "The Perfect Store". The detail that goes into the packaging is amazing, they use a laser level on the aisles :)

For those that GOT a $5 off coupon, go hit up the recycling bin or trash at the local Post Office.

I did this when the Harvest Square Publix opened and scored 8 $5 off coupons (enough to use and to share). Harvest isn't my Post Office, but once I knew that Harvest received the coupons, I went thru their recycling bins.

Forgot to add that SIL and I went to the North Murfreesboro store last month, but not before we scored 2 $5 off coupons at the PO down the street.

Grand opening sales will run for at least 3 weeks (maybe 4), but are basically 4 pages that are wrapped around a 'regular' flyer. I've been to 4 different grand openings, all but one in AL.

If you get a raincheck for items at the grand opening, ask the customer service rep to write the price on the BOGO sales, as many times, that price is W A Y cheaper than the 'normal' selling price at Publix (Sargento Sliced Cheese were BOGO at 2 for $2.50 [yes, we scored Sargento Sliced cheese at 25 cents a package with qs... over the week I bought over 50 packages for two families and I got 6 rainchecks], but regular price is 3.99, so if you didn't have them write the price in, the best that one can do with the raincheck is 2.00 each and THEN subtrack your coupons). I usually pick up some rainchecks that way (when they are out of stock) and mail them to my SIL for her to use.

Intersting note! My coupon is for $5 off $30 and I am in the same zip code as Publix. However, when possible I would shop at he Publix 25 minutes from my house so I get all their ads and such. I wanted to make sure I was up on the lingo and practice and the store.

So my friend lives about 25 minutes from my new Pulbix and NOT in the same zip code and gets $5 off $20 q.

I do not like that kind of foolishness! Publix is quickly moving down my list.

When I called Southern Living magazine about a price I had seen and it was cheaper than my rate and they informed me new business was more important than my business then I cancelled my script. I had been getting this magazine at least 20 years.

Publix will still be out of the way for me shop and make and effort to get to but I was willing to give it a try! We shall see!

DonnaMac, I feel your pain.

I physically DRIVE BY the Harvest Square store on the way to work, to town, well, on the way to just about anywhere. I didn't get a coupon mailed to me (which is why I suggested go look at the Post Office). Only the Harvest, AL residents received them, regardless if their home was 20 miles from the store or 1 mile from the store. Mine is 3 miles from the store, but it a different zip code, thus I didn't receive a coupon.

I had a discussion with the Publix District Manager and he said that Publix obviously only sent out the coupon (ours was $5 off $30 too) by zip code, never mind that the next zip code over was less than 2 miles from the store.

Because Publix is relatively new to the Chattanooga area, maybe the $5 off $20 was an 'added incentive' to drive farther to shop at a "new to the area" store.

Grand Opening $X off $Y coupons are usually good for the entire length of the grand opening (3 or 4 weeks) and normally ONLY good at the grand opening store.
