I didn't catch the whole thing but it was something along the lines of how Publix has been working the past few weeks to lower the prices on the "Essential" items, milk, bread, orange juice, etc. If I understood the ad correctly they have now permanently lowered the price of ground chuck to $1.97/pound. Has anyone else heard or seen the ad and if so, do you understand it that way as well? If so, that's awesome!! No more stockpiling ground chuck and taking up valuable freezer space that could be used for other items!
Yes, my cashier the other day was explaining all of that to the lady in front of me and he included the ground beef in the items they are reducing the prices on. Not sure how long these lower prices will last, but you're right it's nice not having to scramble for that lower price for one week only!

That's awesome!! I just pulled out my last package in my regular freezer, have about 15 pounds in my deep freeze and another 10-12 pounds here in my work freezer. (I'm in the construction industry and my office is actually a furnished house. The freezer here is also stuffed with cheap chicken and Free Sara Lee Bread!) Now that I have some room in my regular freezer I'll have to find something else to put in it's place!
I asked about the "Essentials" sale when I was at Publix on Saturday and was told that the sale would last for a couple more weeks, not that it was permanent. I didn't talk to a manager, though, just the person behind the service desk. Hmmm... I wonder if they just don't know what they were talking about.
