HELP Attention couponers/Publix shoppers in North AL!!

Hi! I'm new to this whole q thing and I'm looking for others in the area. Is there anyone in the Huntsville area? I have mostly shopped at the new Harvet Square store, but I'm looking for a better store.

Everyone finds these peelies and blinkies but Harvest doesn't have any of those. So, where is the best Publix in town? Where do you have problems? Who has the best q's?

All of your advice is greatly appreciated and repped!!!

Hi! I also live in North Alabama. I have normally found that the best couponing publix is the one on 72, in front of walgreens. I have had no problems using competitor q's there. The Harvest store has given me no trouble yet either. I guess I have found the most turnstyle (booklet q's) in Madison Hwy 20. The most tearpads in the publix on 72.

I noticed myself that the harvest store has very little in the way of q's around the store. They have had really good grand opening deals the past couple of weeks. I've been couponing pretty hard for the last couple of months, and it does get a whole lot easier.

I've noticed that there are few blinkies anywhere. Don't know what's going on with that. :shrug7:

Anyway GOOD LUCK, and keep it up. You'll love the difference this will make for your families budget!

Howdy from Toney... actually smack dab between the Meridianville store and the new Harvest Square store.

I used to shop at the Meridianville store almost exclusively, but now that I have $5 off $30 coupons that Publix sent out in Harvest, I've been shopping there. (Recycle bin diving at the PO works the day or so AFTER the coupons came out, so I've used a $5 off every time I've shopped)

I posted about my discussions with the Publix Huntsville District manager in the thread about no manf coupon AND a store (or competitor) coupon .. you might want to read that just to learn something about the 'Enjoy the City' coupon books. Joe was very nice (and left me his number to call him if I ever had another issue) but he said that Publix has seen a MARKED INCREASE in coupon usage and unfortunately coupon misuse or fraud. Well with the cost of gas going up almost $1 a gallon, most folks budgets don't give THAT much and they had to do something to help save $$.

I've never been a peelie puller unless I'm buying the product right then. Otherwise, I personally feel that you are stealing from the person it was intended for (the buyer). Blinkies I might take two of, but not entire blinkie boxes like I've seen people do (instruct their children to stand there and take a coupon each time one comes out for 10+ minutes). I think that blinkie and tearpad suppliers are seeing their coupons show up on auction sites and I don't think they intended it to be used that way.

I also don't print much from the internet, as my current printer has a clogged inkjet issue I haven't had the patience to work on. I'm all over inserts though. It is RARE for me not to have at LEAST 15 copies of the same insert. My SIL started couponing in November last year (I've been couponing for 15+ years) and she has 11 mouths to feed, so I cut coupons for her and snail mail them, so that she has them to use. If niece has a BB game (or I have another reason to be in Nashville) SIL and I have triple couponed at Harris Teeter store in Brentwood for the times they have that.

I'd love to get into trading via HCW, as I always have coupons that SIL and I don't use, but I haven't taken the time to learn the ropes there yet.

I USED to get a Publix ad thrown at the end of the driveway on Tuesday mornings, but haven't gotten one the last 3 weeks, so I used to post the sneak peak (at least BOGO specials) before I'd leave for work.

dabbilicious, we can be n00bs together! I've been a single insert couponer for about 15 years, but just the last 4-6 weeks have started learning from the great folks on this site about couponing with an eye on stockpiling. You see from my sig that my kids are getting older and my budget is getting tighter, so I'm cleaning out cabinets for my stockpile!

I'm only about 85% organized, gaining about 1% every other day, but DH & DS think that my getting 4 or 6 extra sunday papers is hillarious. They make up all kinds of crazy coupon jokes and just laugh and laugh. Every time someone says they need something, I hear some smartypants remark with the word 'coupon' said like Ron White said it in one of his stand-up routines (I'll try to find it on you tube).

So when DS starts getting on my nerves with his jokes, I start joking that he can use his summer job money to pay retail prices for any food, soap, etc. that he eats or uses. That shuts him up.

tn native, my 'friend' in the grocery biz says Joe's very nice, but if he screws up my using target & manu q's today at his district mtg, I'm gonna be.... not happy.

I'm interested in someone's opinion re the difference between whitesburg & 72 as far as q & q book availability - my friend says they're both very high volume. anyone shop both? with gas prices, I don't shop groceries in h'ville but once every 6 months or so, if that much now!

Anyone seen a Toss 4 Cash coupon book?

I, too, am located in Huntsville. I mostly shop at the store on Hwy 20, however, I find more booklets in store and at the turnstall on Whitesburg. I, also, go to Rite Aid next door to Publix on 20 for coupons on cosmetics. I asked once about using competitor coupons but no go. They are kind and even if I have one beep they put through. Super people.

nanpete: where do you get your extra q circulars? I was going to call HT to add to my subscription, but if I don't have to.....that would be great!!!!

What is a n00bs? Sorry, don't know all the lingo yet!!

Also, I got Toss 4$ at the HWY 20 store about 2 weeks ago. It did not have some of the q's talked about like the heinz but I got cheap bagles out of it!!

my mom gets 2 different local papers and gives me the q's she doesn't want, and then I just buy the rest, usually at a drug store so I can make sure they still have the inserts inside. when my in-laws get back from their 7 mo. trip mid-Oct, I'll get their HT inserts too! This week I didn't get an extra paper since their were so few coupons.

n00b is short for noobie or 'new' bie, someone new to a site or forum

I must have called hwy 20 right before they got this book, cause they said they didn't have any. Hwy 72 said they did, hubby was working practically next door, told him to stop and get some, he forgot. He did later go by some stores and was able to bring me some pyramid and room by room books. I've only seen the summer savings book at my store since I started about 4 wks ago!

I'm going to PM (private message) you some other sources I've found useful as a n00b...

I used to NEVER buy a paper, but the Huntsville Times dude at Krogers hooked me up for less than $1 a Sunday paper, so for this short time I have a subscription.

My neighbors all save me their inserts. I do support the Ark (a no-kill shelter) and Challenger House (saves cats) with food, so I think some of the coupons coming my way is the neighbors way of 'helping' (with the Kroger Nestle promotion, they paid ME to take the cat food to the Challenger house). Not everyone uses the same coupons, trust me.

I also recycle bin dive for inserts.
