| Re: is publix getting schizo?? I haven't had the IP issue, but I had a customer service guy come over to scrutinize my coupons several weeks ago. He wouldn't let me use several Publix Qs that did not contain the wording "not to be used with other Qs" with mfg Qs. He said that was Publix's new policy whether it was on the Qs or not. I had actually got the Qs at a local event at a mall where Publix was a sponsor.
Well I was feeling frisky and I proceeded to the customer service counter to discuss it with the MOD. The MOD ended up telling me that I couldn't use a Publix Q with a mfg Q, but that I could use 2 mfg Qs on the same item. I think he was smoking something.

| Re: is publix getting schizo?? The first time I used IPs (about two months ago) at the Publix about a mile away from my house, I was politely asked at the register (during checkout) to wait for a few minutes while the cashier and manager decided if they were allowed to take my IPs. Ended up being told he'd honor anything for $1 off or less. I only had a few for more than this and requested the items higher than that be put back, so it wasn't a big deal. But I was embarassed at being left at the front of a long line, hate having attention called to extensive coupon use because it makes me feel guilty for getting the good deals. I don't know why, but it's comforting to know (from HCW) that I'm not alone in the feeling, LOL.
I've not gone back there with IPs since we have a Publix on every corner; I frequent CVS and Wags so much that it's no extra gas to stop at a different Publix.
My "regular" Publix is about two miles away and they don't blink at my IPs. I frequently get compliments from the cashiers at my clever use of Qs (THANKS HCW!!!!) and just today was called "the new Coupon Lady" with an admiring smile from a cashier my mother's age.
Went to my mom's Publix, in Temple Terrace (FL), last week. It's about 15 miles from my house, so I've never shopped it on my "weekly" trip. Made a POOR decision about which cashier I went with. I usually try for one that's college age or younger, this particular woman was well into her 70s and literally READ (glasses perched at end of nose) each of my coupons, including those I clipped from the newspaper (that were obviously not counterfeit). It took me a full ten minutes to get through the transaction, the bag girl and customers behind me kept looking at me with pity and rolling their eyes at the cashier. She went thru my IPs extra carefully, then called over a frontend manager when there weren't WEBSITES listed on them. Not bar codes, not whether they were clearly printed uniquely versus Xeroxed, but whether they had actual web sites listed on them. I could have screamed. Manager was wonderful, apologized to me (she'd noticed the length of time I'd stood there and was obviously embarassed) and plainly stated that my coupons were valid and needed to be rung up "so this nice customer can be on her way with her frozed items, please."
So not only does YMMV per store, it definitely varies per CASHIER, too! LOL
ETA: I emailed their online CS a few months back (after the first experience with IPs, above) and carry the email reply in my accordion file just in case. It clearly states that they accept the IPs, with a few stipulations regarding amounts (namely, no "free item" IPs accepted, anything over $5 off needs approval by manager). If you're nervous about a future visit, it's a simple email via an online submittal form on Publix's website, and I received a response within 24 hours. At least then you'd have the peace of mind to shop there and have proof that you're allowed to use the IPs from corporate.

| Re: is publix getting schizo?? I have a brand new Publix I shop at and have no problems with the IPs. Its funny b/c you would expect them to, I guess they trained them appropriately to start with. I even used a $2 IP for the Just bunches, along with a $1 insert Q and picked them up BOGO for 0.99 oop for 2 boxes.
I haven't tried to combine a publix Q with a MFC yet so I can't comment there.
The only problem thats ever come up is 2 weeks ago when I walked in with a stack of 22 insert Qs for $2 off the multipacks of wet cat food. I cleared their shelves off. The guy attempted the old "Per Purchase" argument...I tried explaining the meaning...he sort of rolled his eyes and said he didn't really care either way..management was just requiring they pay closer attention to the Qs. I politely told him that I had cash with me and if he would like to ring up all of them seperately that it wouldn't be a problem. That got a chuckle!

LOL As a newbie I submit truer words never have been spoken. But I have found throughout life, and in couponing, these reactions always work and make you and others feel better. don't worry, get anxious or mad , smile and be happy. persistence pays. giving sugar vrs vinegar always works better. if the manager doesn't have a clue and the good employees don't like him or her either, maybe it's time to run off a quick email to the home office. This gets better response then vinegar or having your panties in a bunch. real nice people at this site. thanks for the opportunity. enjoy! paully |
