CHAT Birmingham, AL Publix...anyone?

Hello Birmingham shoppers!!

Can all those in the forum who live in Bham post on the Publix store they use, as far as how coupon-friendly the managers and cashiers are? Also, let's use this thread to post updates on our local Q's whenever we find something exciting- the stores don't seem to be consistent as far as tearpads and booklets, so maybe we can help each other find them

For the record, I use the one on Greensprings. They take IP's up to $1, don't take expired Q's, and take mfg+store. They also take those store reward coupons from CVS and Walgreens right down the street (ie, the $5 CVS bucks or Walgreens coupons that print off the printer upon purchase!)

How is your store? And in advance, nice to meet you!

Sounds like you need to try a different store! All the Publix are about 15 minutes away from me and I shop at 3 different ones and have only ever had 1 bad experience at Irondale. The ones in the Trussville area don't bat an eye at competitor's Qs or using a store + man.

Thanks for the tip! Wasn't sure if it was just my store or all the local stores :) I may shop around- has anyone tried the Vestavia store?

Default Re: Birmingham, AL Publix...anyone?

Ok I consider myself a Publix expert. LOL

Publix on Deerfoot in Trussville - great service. Takes target and wags coupons. Doesn't bat an eye at my massive amount of coupons. Never had a single issue.

Publix in Clay/Chalkville (Trussville) - great! Never a single issue. Takes Target and Wags coupons.

Irondale - eh. I haven't had a couponing issue there but I am friends with KandPsmom and b/c of her occurance I try to avoid them. I did have a worker yell at me for taking a coupon off a toothbrush. I told her I was planning to buy it anyways.

Greensprings - I had a cashier ask management if my publix issued soft soap coupon was acceptable to use since I was using 20. Mgmt said it was ok. I rarely shop there though.

Mountain Brook (behind the Summit) - VERY unfriendly towards coupons. I have had 3 situations in there. 1 - the customer service manager handed my 5/25 back and said I couldn't use it when coupons bring my total below 25.00. I have never had this issue and have used dollar off coupons at least 100 times before that incident and have never ran into this issue anywhere else. 2 - they do not consider Target a competitor which is stupid b/c they are the closest publix off of hwy 280 to Target. 3 - every time i use coupons in there the cashiers study them like I am trying to rob them. BUT they do have the best coupons in store b/c rich mtn brook people don't use coupons. LOL

Publix on Valleydale - Excellent. Have shopped there for years and not a single situation.

Publix at Lee branch off 280 - by far my favorite! Have shopped there since they were opened and never a single issue. Their entire staff is extremely coupon friendly and the store is the cleanest and neatest of all of the bham publixes.

Publix at Valleydale and 31 - I had a situation with a new cashier who was keying in my coupons as competitor and they weren't doubling. Tried to get customer service to fix it and they weren't too bright either. Lost some of my money b/c I had my kids with me and didn't feel like dealing with them. But I am rarely in there.

Publix in Helena - ok the couple of times i have shopped there but I have heard bad things.

Publix in Vestevia Hills off 31 - never any issues but it is very very busy everytime I have gone in there.

Publix on hwy 150 (by the hoover met) - biggest publix in birmingham. Have only been in there twice but found some great coupons.

Publix in Alabaster - only been in there a couple times but it's nice.

Ok I think that's all that I have ever been in. :) I live in Leeds/Moody and frequent the 2 in Tville and lee branch and valleydale and I go to mtn brook a couple times a month just to look for coupons.

Thanks Angelsource, that is exactly the information I needed! Do you know which ones are okay with mfg+store coupons? I figured so about the Mtn Brook store...haha. Bet they hardly see coupons there, likely don't know what to do with them lol!

By mfg and store coupons do you mean publix coupons and mfg coupons?

I have noticed all the front end managers have been swapped around. The mean girl from hueytown was at greensprings and now she is at vestavia.

I have heard the 280/119 is the absolute best one. I haven't made it that far yet. I hope to at the next coupon swap in Sept.

I go to the greensprings one. I normally go at night. I have had good results in the past. I haven't been but maybe 3 times in 6 months.

I love montclair publix, they are very nice! They take my manq and publix. No questions.

I like the vestavia store. They are nice. Some don't know the policies about manq and publix q, but eventually they always take them. They just ask the manager and I don't have any problems.

Hueytown is a ymmv one for me. It is my least fav store and the closest one to me. That manager says flat out that he won't take a manq and a publix q. He says that the q's say can't be combined with other offers, so it's against the company policy to take them.
He says he will take all the publix stores q's (lu#) no matter how expired. One day they tell me I can use expireds lu# and that if its so far expired that it won't key in...the manager has an override key.
Next time I go in, no one knows about that policy and I get the this one time crap. AGAIN

The absolutely best publix for me is the one behind the galleria on 150. The take the manq and publix and the item count doesn't matter. They are wonderful! Really nice and are sincere!

I haven't made it to the new one at 459/bessemer yet, or the new one in hoover.

I'm in Pelham and I've been to all but the new Bessemer/459 store. Tina, the new Hoover store is not open yet according to Publix management. Supposed to open in October is the word I got.

The worse stores couponwise unfortunately seem to be the ones closest to me. LOL That figures. Alabaster manager is very coupon unfriendly. I have actually seen him remove a blinkie machine as I went through the check out using q's I got from it. That was a trip. Helena is semi coupon unfriendly but not as bad as Alabaster. The Pelham store on 31 and Valleydale is becoming very coupon unfriendly. I haven't had any issues with any of the other stores so as long as I get in the car and go outside my own neighborhood, I have no problems shopping with my q's.

The Publix at Lee branch off 280 won't take IP coupons over $5.00 and won't take any IP coupons that need to be price adjusted down to actual price of item.
