Publix Brand Challenge 8/14 to 8/20

I saw this in my metro Atlanta Publix yesterday. 3 of the 4 items were on an endcap facing the registers. (I'd guess the pot roasts would be found in the refrigerated section.) There was a sign describing the promotion that listed all 4 items.

I thought that with the buy theirs, get ours free, the cashier needs to enter a publix coupon code so the register takes the price of the publix item off. YMMV getting both for free, this happened to me with the napkins, the cashier forgot the code, I asked her why the total was so high but she gave me no time to look close enough at the screen. I then went over to CS for the price difference and they said they could only give me money back on the publix item because the brand name did ring up the correct price, etc, etc, etc

As for cashiers taking off the free item, the cashier yesterday said that the mgr didn't give them a code to remove the free item, just said that it was free. She seemed a bit irritated by this.

Also if you want to 'stretch' it a bit ... here is how my friend Georgia Girl fixes the canned roast beef and it is sooooo yummy!!!! Much better than just heating it up from the can - Beef and Gravy

I woudl think you could use the refrigerated type the same as the canned.

And it's also good for a quick easy 'mock' Beef Stroganoff - Mock Beef Stroganoff

the 15 oz progresso bread crumbs were $1.95 at my store on hilton head island (might be higher $ )

my "publix brand FREE items" rang up at regular price so I had to go to CS. Only got the items for free that were already supposed to be free, not the name brand stuff too.

& I also took advantage of the scan right guarantee on the Listerine. It rang up at 5.39 rather than the sale price of 3.79. I got the full refund on the 1st bottle of L that rang up wrong & the difference of 1.60 on the 2nd bottle. & since I had $6 in listerine Q's & had $3.79 worth of Listerine - it really helped to lower my OOP for the pickles & bread crumbs I got!

ETA: the price of the hunt's tomato sauce was .99 for me.

Since the promotion link is on their home page (first item under "What's New"), I have no doubt that this is valid at all stores. If you don't see a sign or display in your store, ask at the CS desk on your way in.

Publix ran this promotion for two weeks each in April and June. So let's see if do it again next week. I wonder if they're going to keep doing this every two months now.

Oh & FYI - the hunt's 15oz cans & the P brand are not with all the pasta sauce - they are with the canned tomatos! I had a little trouble locating. Of course, once I found them with the canned tomato - I noticed a big display on an endcap!
