Anybody in Fl worried about Publix buying out Albie's??

I am wondering if they will be so coupon friendly with this cut in competition. Where I live the only other grocery store is W/D. What do you all think? I love Publix and hope they remain the same.

Dh and I had the same talk the other day. The nearest Albie is about 40 min from me, so I never went htere any way, and I saw Publix deals over the past year or so increase a LOT even with W/D and sweetbay and walmart, we use to shop at W/D for all the great deals, got away from it, went to Walmart got away from it and been shopping regular at Publix for about 2 maybe 3 years now and started the Cp's about 2 month ago and OMG the best thing ever, I now LOVE LOVE Publix, we went price shopping at W/D and Sweetbay this weekend and no way do they come near Publix... so I soo hope they will stay the same...

Not so much. Only competition in our neck of the woods is
Walmart, Winn Dixie and Target. I think Walmart is who
they worry about the most.

only thing I hate is I always liked the Scott toilet paper deals 10/10 at albies.. I will miss that..

I'll miss the TP too. I'm really worried about my store getting bad though because the only other grocery store (non Publix) is OVER 30 minutes away! I'll have 3 Publix's within 4 miles but nothing else. Don't get me wrong, I love Publix but Albertson's being there was partly why I think they were so great. Now they'll probably stop accepting any competitor coupons...

I'm going to miss the free TP and the great deals on meat. I'm not so worried that Publix will abuse the lack of competition in our area as there are still several other stores.

I'm worried about it, because competition is always a good thing. Publix's every day prices are high without the sales/promotions. I would miss the free TP, and 10/10 sales. I like being able to price match Albies sales prices at WalMart. The meats are also very nice at Albies. If there is no comeptition, the prices will go up sky high at the main markets. I've already noticed that this is happpening with Publix and WalMart.
Publix and WalMart are #1 and #2 in the grocery market share in Florida.
One other worry of mine is that good people are losing jobs. Let's hope that the surviving Albertson's stores remain open!

I never really did regular shopping at Albertsons. I'm hoping it won't make a difference with Publix's prices. Here in Cental FL there are quite a few Super Target and WalMart stores, so they still have that competition. I heard (this could be not true) that some of the new stores/old Albertsons will be Greenwise Markets.

I think there's enough Winn Dixie, Targets, and Walmarts to keep Publix on its toes...I hope. They've been awesome lately with their BOGO sales, and the Albertsons have been going downhill near me for quite some time...
