Default RCs for BOGO.....do you do this?

Many times my stores will not write the price down when it's a raincheck for 50% off or BOGO.For the sale price they just write BOGO or 50% off. With the way prices are rising I was a little peeved when I discovered there was no actual price so I figured I would have to bring in an old receipt to show what the price was at the time the RC was written.

Well, I've seen the light. I never thought about the products going on sale and then using my BOGO RC. Last week I bought 20 boxes of brownie mix that's normally 2.73. They were on sale for 2.29 so I used my bogo RC and saved $4 because of the price difference!

So when you have a situation like this do you wait for the item to go on sell or just use the RC on the everyday price?

I will use it based on the expiration date of my Qs or how badly I need the product.

Hey, if the CS person doesn't have enough common sense to write the price (isn't that usually the purpose of a r/c - to lock in a price when it's out of stock?), then use it when you get the most out of it!!

That is exactly what I was going to say. I actually paid a little more this weekend because the price for the Barilla whole grain was higher than when I got it the first time, but my coupons were expiring, so I didn't have a choice.

More often, it works out to my advantage if I pay close attention.

For a while, user applepie and I were shopping on Wednesdays (the last day of the sale) and things were constantly out of stock. So, we've both gotten a TON of BOGO rainchecks. I've never had them put the price in for me, they just write BOGO.

For the most part, I've used my rainchecks fairly quickly, so the rising prices aren't really an issue.

One way you could combat this, is to cut the sale out of the flyer & staple it. Usually the flyer says "Save up to $3.69." So, then if you go back and it is $4.19, you know the price went up. They may honor the ad that is attached to the raincheck. YMMV as I've never tried this.

Sometimes not having the BOGO price written on your RC can work to your advantage. If the product goes on Advantage Buy or just regular sale where it is cheaper, but not BOGO, you get the better price for redeeming your RC if there is no price written in. Mine always write in the BOGO price. I save my RC's for a long time, so this usually works to my advantage. This is especailly so with the prices rising so fast.

Default Re: RCs for BOGO.....do you do this?

my experience isn't on bogo's but I do have some rc's from 2003 for things like Publix ice cream sundae cones 2 for $3.00- now they are 2 for $5.00 and sometimes there is a publix q for $1.00 off one (even back in 03 I got them for 0.50 a box or less). I wasn't thinking back in 2003 that the prices would skyrocket but I tend to forget to use the rainchecks so as long as they continue to honor them I will continue to use them.

I am collecting more rainchecks now with the intention that prices will continue to increase. That's a little weird I suppose.

This is working out to my advantage this week!! I have a raincheck for the AllWhites. I also have $1/1 coupons. Well, they are on sale this week for $2.39. So, I'm going to get 2/$0.39!!
