CHAT Publix chat: high prices on milk

Probably OT but OMG! You guys.....I am sure you have seen it before but tonight was my first night in Publix since the ad change and a gallon of Publix milk is at $4.19 (I usually buy skim and I believe last week I paid $3.99). I am floored.........we have been kind of limiting our milk consumption (DH and I have anyway) before but at over $4 a gallon I am just not sure how we are going to keep affording to buy milk.......and I only try to buy 1 gallon a week now.

A lot of people are feeling this way. I suspect that after all the flooding in the midwest, prices are going to go higher and higher.

Soon it will be cheaper to pour wine on the kids frosted flakes.

I feel you on the milk! It's $4.25 at our Publix!! And we use about 3 gallons a week with the kids. I ran to WAGs today to get that $3.29 milk!! And the other weeks I was using RRs to buy my milk at WAGs (we can use RRs to buy milk here).

It's become cheaper to use the Coffee Mate liquid creamer for our coffee. I get that so as to stretch the milk for cereal and such.

Oh, I like you way of thinking, do you suppose wine will be good on Special K with strawberries? Should I use red or white?

Wow, milk was still 3.99 at my publix yesterday. This price increase is no fun.

Off topic, but at Whole Foods in Duluth, GA today, some guy behind me bought a gallon of skim (not organic) for $3.69. Thought it was a great price!!

We go through a gallon a day I went to wags today to get a few gallons, but that is all I can get in my fridge at once. I caught DH making a big glass of chocolate milk today and gave him a look as if he was pouring a glass of gold and washing it down the drain. Usually i buy them 2 at a time at CVS. They hae the tg lee much cheaper than anyone else around, Its usually $3.89, this wek it was on sale for $3.69 which was nice. I wish wags was closer. I would have saved a lot this week.
