HELP Could I have done this better? (Friskies)

Right now Publix is having a BOGO on Friskies 3.5 dry cat food.
I have two coupons each good for $2 dollars off one bag of Friskies 3.5+ of dry cat food. Making the cat food cost $1.99.
Instead of using just one coupon, could I have used two and got two bags of cat food for 27 cents?
Since I was buying "two" bags of food?

Oh darn it. The perils of being a newbie. :p
Well do you think I could return the bags and they'd honor the first coupon and I could use the second coupon?

I've heard a lot of good stories about Publix customer service and what they'll do after the fact. It's certainly worth a shot going in with the bags/receipt/other coupon and asking them to accept the second coupon. They don't have to do a return. They can just do a coupon refund. Your profile says you are in GA. Does that mean you are in an area where the B1G1 items ring up as 1/2 price each rather than full price and $0? If so, that makes it more likely that you will succeed since they won't try to argue that you didn't pay for the second one so you aren't allowed to use a coupon.

I just looked at my receipt and they charged me 2.00 for one bag and 1.99 for another bag. I'll try to call them and see what they can do for me. Thanks!

I'm definitely going back there again!
I've always thought Publix was expensive, but now I know how to work the deals. :)
