Default Publix coupons

How do all of you use manu Q's with Publix Q's. I have seen few coupons that will let you do so. All of the Advantage Buy Savings have coupons that clearly specify "May not be used in conjunction with any other coupon". Do your stores just let it slide? I have been told several times at my store I cannot do this. And I thought it was a no no to talk about here, but figured I'd bring it up because it seemed to be in pretty good discussion in the Publix ad thread. Someone please fill me in.

Default Re: Publix coupons

This may be something that varies from store to store ... maybe based on the individual manager or the district/regional manager. Our store will accept one manufacturer coupon and one Publix coupon per item.

The manager explained it to me as: the Publix coupon is the company's 'bonus' to it's customers ... the manufacturer coupon is reimbursed to the store by the manufacturer ... so the two come out of different "pots" so to speak. One doesn't really 'affect' the other so they don't care if you use both ... and the register takes them of separately.

Now, if I went to a different Publix and they said I couldn't combine the two ... I wouldn't "push" things. I'd just use whichever one was better ... or if the item wasn't worth it without the two coupons, I'd ask to take it off.

FWIW, as "coupon friendly" as my Publix is ... they do not take printable coupons at all ... they'll take other store's coupons (Kroger, Foodlion, etc.) but nothing printed from a website at all!

We allow discussion of combining the coupons because Publix has been unclear on what that phrase means. Some representatives will tell you "May not be used in conjunction with any other coupon" means no other coupons, store or manufacturer, while others will say it means no other Publix coupons. The rationale for the latter is that they are getting reimbursed for the manufacturer's coupon so it's not a double hit to their profit if you use a store coupon as well.

Default Re: Publix coupons

I have found that the computer system in each of the three stores I shop in will take the Publix Q along with the store Q. When a friend of mine who was shopping with me asked a cashier, the cashier told her it wouldn't and they didn't allow it and handed her the Qs back without even trying.

I always took it to mean no other Publix coupon, meaning you couldn't use 2 Qs for the same item - kind of like the one per purchase on Man Qs.

I would try and if that store's system is set up to NOT take them, you will find out.

I wouldn't shop at Publix as often if I wasn't allowed to use a Publix and Manu. Q's together. Add in some other competitor's Q's and it can be the best deals around.

Default Re: Publix coupons

The Publix computer system is set up to accept only one coupon per item, so if the number of coupons exceeds the number of items sold, an override will be required.
It is a matter of the item to coupon ratio. You can still use additional Publix Store coupons, but you will either need an override, or you will need filler items to make the item to coupon ratio 1:1.
