FAQ Price Chopper (NE) 50% rule old posts

today they hit me with this one...I was like HUH????

    I had:

    Kotex Lightdays 1.49
    Kotex Lightdays 1.49
    Kotex Maxi 3.49
    Kotex Maxi 3.49
    Always Infinity 5.69

    Subtotal 15.95

    SC MFG Q 4.99 (free Always Q)
SC MFG Q 1.00 (Kotex Maxi)
SC MFG Q 1.00 (Kotex Maxi)
********Coupon Rule 50% of order reached******
SC MFG Q 0.75 (Kotex Lightdays)
SC MFG Q 0.75 (Kotex Lightdays)
    MFG Q 0.74 (PC double of 0.75)
***AT THIS POINT IT REFUSES MY 2nd 0.75 as a double****
HBC double Q 1.00 (PC double up to $3 HBC Q)
HBC double Q 1.00 (PC double up to $3 HBC Q)

NOW she tells me to add a "filler" (a 0.79 bag of M&M's) and still no go...so she pushes 0.75 thru as a double to my 0.75 Q making it a 1c over LOL.

    Advantedge savings

    Kotex -0.99
    Kotex -0.99
    Always -0.70

    RIDICULOUS....

Is there any way to avoid this in the future? Give my card last or something???

    HELP 50% coupon rule

Question: How do you get around the 50% coupon rule?

My Price Chopper's double's $1 coupons (even internet coupons), making for lots of free items, but I can't figure out how to get around this rule.

Today I went to pick up some great deals, and beside having free items from using my coupons, I bought some produce, soda, ect (things I just dont have coupons for) thinking that I would have enough to off set the rule.

So off to the self check out isle, (I find that it is better, the cashier go slow enough so that I can see that the coupons are doubling), but when I get to the last two $1 coupons, they don't double. UGH... I met the rule....

So then I ask if I can buy a $10 gift card(thinking this would get me past this crazy rule), the cashier then ask the manager and he says "NO":shrug7: He tells me I cant because I am in the middle of checking out. So then I just tell them I just dont want the 2 items... What do you guys do about this rule?

Should I have just bought the 2 items in a second order with a gift card?
Can I even do that? I am so confused!!!! :frown:

I have seen others post that they bought gift cards and that worked (however, I don't know that you can purchase gift cards at self check outs, which may be what the manager meant).

Other options are to buy items with free or high value (over $1) coupons that won't double, then hold those coupons until after they scan all the doubleable ones.

This should work, since the full rule says that after deducting 50% of the total, they will still redeem coupons at face value,

The reason to hold the larger ones is if you give them all the coupons up front, they might scan the larger ones first and mess up your plan.

Thanks for the advice. Its just fustrating when you know you have coupons that add up to free items to add to your stock pile, but you hit this 50% rule.

Do you think I can Buy a gift card, and use my dollar doubles ( I hate to see them expire when I know they add up to free ) and just get the deals? Do you think they would allow this?

I think buying a gift card and doing the deals would work if you don't get the cashier from he!! who thinks they can make up their own rules! I've never had a problem when I add a gift card to my order.

My pc doesn't have the self checkout, otherwise the GC would have worked fine.

I half wonder if it was that you can't buy a GC at self checkout :shrug7:

As Clipper said, give your doubles first. It looks as though you had the free item Q on top. Save all frees for last. If your store doubles $1 coupons, give those first ... otherwise start with the lowest denomination first and work your way up (or back, as the case may be).

+ Give any PC doubles/triples last as well.

My PC in oneonta NEVER lets me give q's first. They will sit there and wait for me to search through my stuff, or juggle a kid to the other arm. The idea of buying a pc gift card is fantastic, though. I don't know why I never thought of it.

My store doesn't even double and they are very particular about scanning the card before coupons.... always. It doesn't even matter!
