Default Price Chopper (NE) 50% Coupon Rule Didn't Happen

I went to Price Chopper on Saturday to get 2 of their $7 pizzas for dinner. While waiting for the pizzas I picked out a few items that were free/nearly free to go with the pizzas. There was a problem with the pizzas and I didn't end up getting them so I needed to put back some the items I planned on purchasing.

The items I ended up purchasing came to $18.98 after the advantage card. I had 5 $1/1 Qs. I expected 4 to double and the 5th one I would get $1.49 for since that would be half. The cashier scanned all the coupons and all 5 doubled even though I was over the 50% rule. I'm not sure why this happened as I was in another Price Chopper last Wednesday and they had marked the recycled Reynolds Wrap $1.07. I didn't see it until I was ready to leave but had 2 $1/1 coupons that expired 9/13. I figure it was well worth using the coupons even if they didn't double. I got $1.07 for the first coupon but only $1 for the second since the 50% rule was met and it stated that on my receipt.

The only thing I thought of, in the Price Chopper that let me go over 50%, was they are in the middle of major renovations and maybe they were changing the registers too and hadn't completely programmed them. This is the Shelburne Rd. store in Burlington, VT.

Anyone else find they could go over the 50% rule in the Shelburne Rd. store?

    hi carol,

i'm new to the whole coupon thing, and was wondering if you'd share your opinion on our berlin price chopper?

i've been reading the posts on here. does ours generally allow you to give your card after coupons, buy gift cards to balance order, and such?

    thanks!

I am in the Berlin area, maybe I can help.
The best way to handle Q's for this PC is to give your card before scanning any items (or as close to the beginning as possible) and no they won't take their card after Q's. They only accept 2 coupons for any one like item. I just recently made three trips in and out their doors so I could use 6 Q's. I can play their game

Buying gift cards and such after they scan the Q's is futile, because the Q's have already processed the purchases already scanned.

It takes a little bit more time, but what I do is figure out what I will be buying there (estimated prices) and how many Q's I will be using.
    IE:
    I have 2 Q's for .75/1 = $1.50 doubled
    I have 2 Q's for .50/1 = $1.00 doubled
For the 50% rule I would have to purchase items other than what the Q's are for, that prices to over the $2.50 value of the doubled coupons.

In my recent trip mentioned above, I divided my shopping list into the three trips in and out their doors.

    Hope this helps you some.

Edit: BTW the S_ _ _ _ grocery store up the hill allows 6 Q's per like item, but only doubles coupons that are up to 99 cents where PC is up to $1.00.
I find that the other store's prices are better on most things. I really don't see how PC stays in business with their high prices.
