So if I plan to pick up other essentials during trips that I'd be using double coupons then hopefully the 50% rule wouldn't apply? This is all new to me since capital stores didn't double before. I guess once I get to try this I'll have a better understanding.

I haven't had a problem if I first give my coupons to double, then higher value coupons, then frees. This has been true for me even when my oop was 1/4 the value of items purchased, but it did require approval. Approval was granted without question.

Whenever I get hit with the 50% thing. I tell the cashier, "I'll be right back and I'll buy a few more things," as I say excuse me to the people behind me. The cashier will always say, "Oh no, come back I can do it this one time." If I leave to get more things to hit the 50% that cashiers line has to wait...and nobody wants that to happen.

I'm in the capital district too. I've only hit the rule once with a really small order and a bunch of $.50 coupons. I lost $.11 that I would have got on the doubling.
