We love those: "260 Calorie Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Delights" with Egg & Cheese on English Muffins for Breakfast, but even on sale they are $2.50+ apiece. I can make them for $.68-$.89 at home.
Here is an easy homemade Turkey Sausage Patty that has NO MSG.
NO Nitrates/Nitrites, tastes good & less than half the cost of buying Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage that is loaded wth chemicals.
Cooking ahead, Freezing and Microwaving works great with these.
Other uses:
Turkey Meatballs
Pizza-crumbled Sausage Substitute
Sloppy Joes
Quiches/Omelets/Frittata's/Breakfast Casserole
Ingredients: Mix together & refridgerate uncooked for 12-24 hrs for the flavors to marinate.
EASY TURKEY SAUSAGE RECIPE:
1.5# Ground Turkey 7% Fat or less - Jenni-O is a good brand.
.25 cup hot water
Spices:
All Spices must be dried, not Fresh.
2.5 tsp ground sage
.25 tsp salt or Mrs. Dash
1.0 tsp black pepper
.5 tsp dry mustard
.25 tsp ground nutmeg
.25 tsp ground allspice
.75 tsp dried marjoram
optional 1.0 tsp red pepper flakes
optional for Maple Syrup Sausage: Omit the water, & instead use 1/4 cup hot Maple Syrup.
INSTRUCTIONS: In large bowl, put in hot water & add spices & let sit for the spices to "bloom" & cool, takes about 10 minutes.
When water is cooled to lukewarm, then add the raw Turkey, mix.
Shape into a log and put in refridgerator overnight.
Cut into 24 patties.
Fry in nonstick pan for 4 minutes each side.
To make the McMuffin: Great to eat on the run/in the car---
Add 1 Cooked Egg White, 1 slice NonFat Cheese & Thomas Reduced Fat English Muffin, 100 Calorie.
Or Orowheat's Double Fiber Wheat English Muffin, from the day old Bakery.
Can make the entire sandwich ahead and freeze.
The McMuffin is approx 220-240 Calories.
The BEST way to freeze is to first put each ingredient SEPARATE on a cookie sheet in the freezer.
Keep the FatFree Kraft Single in the wrapper to freeze.
Assemble entire muffin after individual ingredients are frozen.
Remember, almost anything you see frozen at the store can be frozen this way at home with good results.
