Using Manufacturer's Coupons at PetCo I have been using more coupons at PetCo lately and have noticed the following problem:
When a manufacturer's coupon requires buying more than one item, the PetCo cash register only gives a discount equal to the price of one of the items, not the amount on the coupon.
For example:
I buy 12 cans of Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys cat food and use a manufacturer's coupon for $1.00 off 12 cans.
The price per can after the PetCo Pals discount is $0.80, or $9.60 for 12 cans.
The cashier scans the coupon and is prompted to enter the SKU for the item that goes with the coupon. The SKU is for one can so the register only takes $0.80 off, not $1.
It also happens with the Friskies $0.50 off 12 cans coupon.
The price for one can is $0.45 so the register only takes $0.45 off, even though I bought 12 cans.
I have to point it out to the cashier every time so that they can manually put in the the additional credit. This can be a big hassle depending on the cashier.
The manager at my local PetCo says it is a problem with the coupon and that I should just mention it when checking out. There is nothing else they can do. However, the problem has never happened with the same coupons at PetSmart or at the grocery store. I think the problem is with the way PetCo enters the coupons (they enter a single SKU and the computer thinks it is on that item only).
Has this happened to anyone else at PetCo? :shrug7:
I am sure many people have used coupons and not noticed that they did not get full credit for them. PetCo probably redeems them for the full amount though
