Default New Rewards Program

When I went in the other day, I had 7 bags going toward the 10. She told me how they are changing the reward program, and that I need to go online and sign up for the new rewards program. BUT she said not to do it till I buy 10 bags, because if I do it now, I will lose my free bag reward. She said that they are changing it to every $100 you spend, you get 5 PALS reward dollars. She gave me a flier. This is what it says (in part):

What happens to my current PALS account? PALS Pays replaces our previous reward programs, but your PALS number stays the same.

How will PETCO know when I have spent $100? All your eligible purchases will be tracked to your member account. Once you have spent $100, PETCO will automatically email you 5 PALS reward dollars.

What if I spend $200 at once? You will receive (2) 5 PALS reward dollar certificates by email.

It also states that after you register (but don't do it till you get your free bag!!) they will mail you the Total Pet Care Savings Book. Value $250. Not sure what's in it, but $250 sure sounds good!!

It's kinda nice that you can buy anything in the store and have it go to your rewards, not just food. I think this will end up being a pretty good deal!

HTH Someone!

Hmm, I think I like this better than the free bag after every ten. I buy Natural Balance dog food rolls for my dogs, and the only place around here with them is Petco. That's $30/mo right there and another $20-$30 for dry food per month. This program will save me more money than just the free bag wyb 10, so I think I'm sold already. Thanks for the heads up!

I think it'll be awesome! Our German Shepherd needs a new collar, and the one we want is about $25... that's a quarter of it right there! I'm excited about it.

Does anyone have a link on Petco.com that tells about this new program?

I don't see anything on their website about the new program, but the website that's listed on the little flyer they gave me is: PETCO.com/petpals I'm afraid to log in and change anything though, cause I don't want to lose my free bag. They also have the phone # 888-824-PALS (7257) for additional information about their "exclusive" program. HTH

I just spent $65 at Petco and asked them about changing their reward card program to what the OP mentioned and they looked at me like I had 'stupid' written on my forehead.

I'm still ticked they stopped carrying some items and you just lose your rewards. We had 8 bags out of 10 purchased of the bars and they stopped making them. Nothing they can do about it....grrr

My math tells me for dry food this will suck, otherwise its good.

10x10=100
you can get a $10 bag of food with the old program but only $5 towards the same $10 bag of food with the new program. I only buy dry food there, so this will suck for me depending on the actual math for any given bag with sale prices and coupons.

The $250 worth of coupons will most likely include some % off big items which bumps up the total savings, normally crates and automatic dog dishes/waterers. We can hope for a free bag of doog food or something though.

Wonder how this will effect the top dog program (higher spending threshold during the year)?

I've noticed that most stuff is cheaper at PetSmart then it is at Petco or maybe I just have a really horrible PetCo but last time I was in there a dog went to the bathroom on the floor and no one would clean it up. Also PetSmart lets you use there coupons and manufacture coupons at the same time. And most of their products have $5 gift cards inside of them.

Interesting, I went into PetCo last night (have to start my puppy - 7yr old German Shepherd, back on Royal Canin - he's been having allergies and this is the only food that doesn't make him itch terribly) - the manager is the one that rang me up and she didn't mention it to me. Royal Canin for the 38lb is $60 - so I could make $5 quickly. I have to go back later this week for something, so I might see if I hunt down the manager and have a "talk".
