finished the toys in the basement!
What an accomplishment!
I for one am proud of myself
and glad that is done.
I still need to finish the upstairs boys room,
although I am more than half done there.
I also started going through my plastic containers.
Odds and ends.
Must buy new plastic containers for food.
Ok, I guess I will join again, even though I failed miserably in 2011. I am determined to get this house uncluttered and under control this year! I will have been in this house 4 years in April and I still have boxes in the basement that haven't been unpacked!
Part of my challenge for myself is not only to declutter what I have, but also to stop bringing new stuff in. I'm thinking of doing a self-imposed NO SPEND/NO SHOPPING for the month of February (cuz it's a short month! LOL!). I will only buy necessary groceries. No stockpiling, no chasing deals, no clearance shopping, NOTHING! I'm also thinking of starting a "one in, TWO out" rule. Anything new I buy, I have to get rid of 2 similar items.
I had to have my cat put down this week, so, I packed up all the unopened food and treats and put them in my car to drop off at the shelter. Litter boxes are in the trash to go out tomorrow. Packing up 2 old flannel sheet sets that have seen better days to donate to the shelter, along with some like new doggie toys that mine have shown no interest in.
I also found a consignment shop by work. My goal is to take in 5 items per week. I've been taking stuff since August and doing pretty well selling them.
Yay! Sold 2 more items. Making money on my clutter is really helping out in the bill department.
A lady started a group in our neighborhood on Facebook because we can't have garage sales (against the deed restrictions). Other people in the neighborhood put items up for sale in the group and others purchase. I joined at the end of Dec and have made almost $100 - yay!

So far I have just gotten rid of a pair of pants FDH split the crotch in
BUT: I have bags of stuff to take to goodwill, a used book store, glasses to lions club and some odds and end but won't count those until Saturday when they are officially out of my car.
I have a box of plates and a box of Christmas deorations in my car that I will drop off at Moms for Sis1 to pick up at a later date. I will come up with an amount to count them as once they officially leave my car!

I am definitely in need of this motivator! I have so many books, toys, gadget and whatnot I need to get rid of. My goal is to recycle as much of it as possible. Declutter away!
On a different note: how do I put the declutter tag at the bottom?
