I'm in!!
Okay! It's time for our first weekly challenge!
This week, let's focus on lowering our electric bills! Some things to focus on are...
- shutting off the lights as you leave a room
- "concentrated" lighting...if you are the only one in a room, try using just a lamp rather than the overhead light or the overhead light AND a lamp
- Unplugging all of those phantom energy suckers! Unplug the microwave, coffee maker, toaster, computer, tv, etc. when not in use. If you have a power strip on hand, use it to plug in several things and then just flip the switch when you're done using it!
Good luck! Please let us know how it's going for you, and if you have any suggestions to add to the list!

I have a "frugal" tip for everyone:
Say no to something that you want today, because by tomorrow, you probably wont want it and you will save the money and the space!

In addition to unplugging things, flip the breaker to appliances not in use if you can. Stove, washer, dryer, dishwasher, water heater, etc. It's just a matter of developing a routine, and it's as easy as flipping a switch. It made a significant difference in our power bill.

I just want to chime in with my results.
I started unplugging last month and got the bill yesterday.

I must confess . . . I am a Duggar Lover
We have TV/video game consoles plugged into a power strip.. I will try and remember to disconnect before we go to work. And I think we can fit the phone chargers on there too! That would help a lot. My husband leaves hallway bathroom and fan on. Will add those to turn off as well.![]()
